As a Learning Innovation Manager, you will help shape the future of digital learning at the European Patent Academy. Working at the intersection of education, technology and innovation, you will contribute to the creation of accessible, engaging and effective learning experiences that support users of the European patent system worldwide.
The EPO's Academy, Professional Certifications and Learning Partnerships department develops specialised education programmes and professional qualifications to make patent knowledge more accessible. Supporting the objectives of the EPO's Strategic Plan 2028, the department brings together the European Patent Academy and the Certifications and EdTech Hub to promote learning innovation, skills development and international co-operation.
We are looking for a Learning Innovation Manager to join the Educational Technology team within the Certifications and EdTech Hub. You will collaborate with training teams, IT colleagues and external partners to develop digital learning content, enhance learning platforms and integrate innovative technologies into the Academy's programmes. Through your work, you will help improve the quality, accessibility and reach of digital education across the EPO's learning community.
With us you will:
- act as a primary co-ordinator and e-learning expert for the crafting of training content, in close collaboration with training leads and external service providers
- drive the Educational Technology team in adopting and deploying emerging AI technologies to create scalable, innovative and effective learning solutions
- author and update learning content related to the patent granting process and patent information tools
- drive the development and implementation of best practices for data collection, analytics, reporting and visualisation, transforming data into clear and meaningful insights
- oversee the development and administration of learning management systems and their integration with other systems, in co-operation with our IT department
- design and automate efficient workflows, establish robust technical frameworks, implement tailored software solutions, and oversee contract management
- manage budget administration, including reserving funds and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices.
- take on temporary responsibilities, project assignments or any other necessary tasks
Apply if you have:
- proven experience in driving the adoption and deployment of AI-driven workflows and technologies for educational content creation
- a forward-thinking approach and initiative to develop new solutions, processes and workflows
- proven experience in authoring learning material for legal and technical domains, and the ability to adapt such material to a broad range of audiences
- analytical skills and the ability to advise on operational and technical matters
- communication skills and the ability to drive co-operation initiatives and projects
- diplomatic skills and a demonstrable ability to interact effectively and build and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- a natural ability to foster a collaborative team culture, champion proactive knowledge-sharing, and embody a collaborative approach across teams, sites and departments in day-to-day work
Our minimum requirements for this post
- Diploma of completed studies at master's level or – in exceptional cases – equivalent professional experience
- Generally, an excellent knowledge (at least C1) of one official language (English, French and German) and ability to understand the other two; alternatively, excellent knowledge (at least C1) of at least one official language (in such cases, the willingness to learn the missing language(s) and to reach level B2 within a set time frame would be required)
- Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation
