Your job

Do you enjoy creating a clear overview, adapting quickly, and ensuring that various processes run smoothly? In this versatile role within Corporate Governance & Legal Services, you’ll have plenty of freedom to work independently and take the initiative. You’ll coordinate various tasks, interact with colleagues throughout the organization, and serve as a key link within our legal services. No two days are exactly the same: from monitoring processes and deadlines to organizing, coordinating, and providing support where needed.

That’s why we’re looking for a colleague who enjoys organizing, connecting, and thinking ahead - and who thrives on taking ownership in a broad support role.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will ensure that the processes related to the Open Government Act (Woo) and the legal protection of students run smoothly and are handled with care. You will maintain an overview, monitor progress, and ensure that the right people are involved at the right time.

For the Woo, you’ll work on cases involving a wide range of often-current topics relevant to WUR or in the media, ranging from international collaboration to internal guidelines. Student legal protection involves, for example, appeals regarding a binding academic advisory decision, admission to a program, or an imposed fraud-related measure. In addition, you’ll support the team with various legal secretarial and organizational tasks.

Your Duties And Responsibilities

  • You will coordinate the handling of Woo requests and opinions, working closely with the three Woo legal advisors on our team. You will request documents from within WUR, ensure that the necessary information is gathered, and maintain contact with internal and external stakeholders. You will organize coordination with the Woo legal advisors, monitor progress, and ensure that files are ready for decision-making by the board. You will also assist colleagues within WUR with questions about the Woo and ensure that the relevant information on our website and support pages remains up to date.
  • You will coordinate the Student Legal Protection Help Desk, which handles appeals, objections, and complaints from students. In doing so, you will collaborate with the education lawyer responsible for the legal substance of these cases. You will oversee the process, maintain an overview of ongoing cases, involve the appropriate parties, and ensure that deadlines are met. If a hearing is necessary, you will ensure that it is scheduled and properly prepared.
  • You support the team with various legal-secretarial and organizational tasks. For example, you manage the powers of attorney for the board and executive management, process changes to the Commercial Register, keep information and documents on our website up to date, and organize and take minutes for the meetings of the WUR legal team.

You will work here

You’ll be working on the greenest and most innovative campus in the Netherlands. You’ll be part of the CG&LS team, which is part of the corporate staff at Wageningen University & Research. The department consists of about twenty employees, including a team of seven lawyers. The CG&LS department has a broad scope of work, with focus areas such as governance, scientific integrity, employee participation, education law, and disputes. The legal team contributes to the development of policies on topics such as education, knowledge security, copyright, and knowledge commercialization. The atmosphere within CG&LS is informal, and in addition to the substantive work, time is set aside for socializing.

Your qualities

We are looking for someone with a proactive attitude and an interest in and understanding legal processes. You work accurately and independently and maintain a clear overview.

In Addition, You Have

  • a higher vocational education (HBO) level of work and thinking, acquired through education or relevant work experience;

  • you are proactive, service-oriented, and meticulous, and you easily navigate a complex organization;
  • you take responsibility and switch easily between different tasks;
  • you have an excellent command of Dutch and English (C1 language proficiency ).

In our international work environment, communication is increasingly taking place in English. If you haven’t yet reached the required level, we’ll of course help you, and you’re welcome to visit our language center, Wageningen in’to Language .
