Position Summary
The position is responsible for research data management initiatives providing guidance to library users across the research lifecycle, including data management practices, data curation, metadata standards, and repository selection. The position also conducts library data statistical analysis and verifies all data uploads and dissemination following appropriate cataloguing and archival standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Guides, promotes, and encourages Open Data and interoperable data management practices amongst library users maximizing transparency in data sharing, quality of research and data reusability.
- Develops, assigns, and verifies ontologies in metadata that enable users to discover and track current and historical research data.
- Supports researchers on data visualization and data mining techniques to enable efficient use and management of research data.
- Conducts bibliometric analysis, altmetrics, citation metrics and provides insights to determine methods that improve research impact and its amplifications.
- Ensures data upload into the institutional repository in line with archival standards ensuring long-term preservation and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data practices.
- Collates and analyzes library statistical data providing insights on taxonomy effectiveness, library web traffic, etc.
- Designs and delivers trainings and conducts outreach activities to educate library users on emerging tools and best practices for managing, archiving, and disseminating research data and outputs.
- Maintains, updates, and publishes library guides, newsletters, tutorials and policies on data management, data cleanup, visualization, reproducible workflows, security, and preservation.
- Assesses relevancy of library collection and actively participates in the library’s publication services.
- Participates in scholarship opportunities and creates awareness of the emerging trends in research data management, Open Science, data sharing, data ethics/Privacy regulations, AI-assisted research workflows, health librarianship, etc., while sharing best
- Works collaboratively with other library teams to support the library’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.

Education
- Master's Degree
Experience
Master’s degree in Library Science (American Library Association (ALA) accredited) , Information Science, Data Science or relevant quantitative field with 3 - 5 years’ experience in an academic library and/ or clinical research environment providing support across the research lifecycle.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expert knowledge of Integrated Library System (ILS), open access web tools and library technologies.
- Expert knowledge of emerging clinical research trends and biomedical research data management landscape.
- Expert knowledge of Open Access requirements and metadata standards, including Dublin Core, DataCite Schema, and Data Documentation Initiative (DDI).
- Experience using research data management and analytical tools, including DMPTool, GitHub, Jupyter Notebooks, Power BI, and R/Python for data handling and reporting.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects within demanding timeframes.
- Proven ability to provide a customer-focused service with advanced organizational skills.
- High attention to detail with strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation (QF).
