Overview As part of an interdisciplinary team, the LPN will provide nursing assessment, care, treatment, monitoring, education, and support to clients experiencing substance use, mental health, and concurrent disorders. The LPN practices within their individual competence, organizational policies, and the professional standards and scope of practice established by the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses (ANBLPN). The LPN will administer medications and implement authorized prescriber orders in accordance with applicable legislation, regulatory standards, organizational policies, and individual competence. The LPN works collaboratively with physicians, nursing colleagues, addictions counsellors, support staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to support safe, person-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care. You will be required to work all shifts, which includes days, nights and weekends. Key Responsibilities: Deliver client care in accordance with the standards of practice, code of ethics, and scope of practice established by the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses (ANBLPN), as well as organizational policies and procedures. Providing ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning implementation and evaluation.   Formulate and implement client care plans in collaboration with the client and interdisciplinary team. Safely implementing physician’s orders.   Administering medications to clients.   Maintaining current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards.   Orientating, facilitating and reinforcing client’s involvement in addiction treatment.   Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies    Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living.   Providing ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals.   Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning and evaluation of the client and his care.   Assisting the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.   Perform other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.   Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training   Current registration and licence to practise as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses (ANBLPN), in good standing. Current basic CPR   Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties   Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis   Leadership /Charge experience preferred   Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills   Good problem solving and decision-making skills   Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting   Knowledge of / experience with a team based person-centered care approach   Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team Strong understanding of professional boundaries, privacy, confidentiality, documentation, and nursing accountability. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is considered an asset.
