Localization Design Lead (2D and Video Assets)

Is this job info correct?

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

What you will focus on

The localization team delivers on time. That part works. What is missing is the craft layer and the leadership layer sitting above it: someone who catches quality issues before they generate revision loops, who can look at a manual, fragile process and redesign it, and who can bring a team of 4 artists from quiet execution to confident, technically engaged contributors. This role is not a coordinator position given a different title. It requires a practitioner who leads from firsthand expertise in 2D and video asset localization, shapes how the team works rather than simply what the team produces, and builds the internal credibility to have direct, productive conversations with global game teams and marketing stakeholders without escalation.

What it means on a daily basis

  • Review incoming localization requests across 2D and video asset types, including store screenshots, UA creatives, trailers, and app previews, assign work according to capacity and complexity, and track delivery against timelines and quality standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on localized assets before they reach internal clients, catching inaccuracies, layout issues, and creative inconsistencies before they turn into revision rounds.
  • Identify where current workflows are slow, fragile, or producing avoidable rework, then design and implement improvements, including automation where the process allows for it.
  • Build and maintain team documentation: guidelines, best practices, process references, and performance metrics that keep standards consistent and transferable.
  • Coach and develop the localization team through regular feedback, hands-on guidance, and deliberate skill-building, with the goal of raising both technical confidence and communication within the group.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal clients across global game teams and the marketing department, managing expectations, clarifying priorities, and ensuring alignment on scope and delivery.
  • Managing team performance, attendance, onboarding, goal setting, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Performing hands-on localization work during workload fluctuations or urgent deadlines.

What success will look like

Within your first year, the localization team will be delivering assets at a quality level that requires significantly fewer revision cycles. Workflows that were manual and ad hoc will have been redesigned into something scalable and documented. Your team of four will be more technically engaged, more vocal, and more confident in both their craft and their client interactions. Internal stakeholders across game teams and marketing will trust the localization pipeline as a reliable, high-quality service, measurable through delivery KPIs, quality metrics, and the absence of recurring pain points that existed before you arrived.

Who you would be working with

You will lead a localization team of 4 people, comprising three 2D artists and one video artist, sitting within a broader Creative Agency Team (CAT) of 17 people that includes graphic designers, illustration artists, motion designers, a CGI video artist, and a project manager.

Internally, you will collaborate closely with the Marketing team and multiple game teams based across different global locations. There are no external stakeholders in scope for this role.

Your recruitment journey

  1. Screen Call with a Recruiter (up to 30 minutes)
  2. Practical Test conducted online
  3. Interview with the Creative Agency Lead and the Creative Agency Global Director (up to 60 minutes)

Where this role can take you

Depending on your qualifications and the opportunities available, this role can evolve toward other lead positions within the CAT department, including roles focused on video, or move horizontally into other teams within the organization.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in localizing and adapting both 2D and video promotional assets, including static formats such as store screenshots, in-app assets, and cross-promo materials, as well as video formats such as trailers and app previews, for marketing purposes across multiple markets.
  • Advanced command of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere Pro, paired with a solid grounding in design principles including typography, layout, composition, and visual communication for localization contexts.
  • A proven ability to identify quality and timeline risks in a production pipeline, including the capacity to review assets critically, spot inaccuracies, and determine the right corrective action before issues escalate.
  • A track record of improving localization or production processes, including designing more efficient ways of working, implementing automation where feasible, and creating documentation that makes standards repeatable and transferable.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a creative or localization team, including building individual skills, raising collective output quality, and creating conditions where team members communicate proactively and take ownership of their work.
  • The ability to work directly with internal clients across multiple functions and geographies, managing priorities clearly, setting expectations accurately, and maintaining alignment without requiring escalation.
  • You are comfortable working in English as your primary professional language, including written communication with global stakeholders, leading discussions, and reviewing client-facing deliverables.

WHO YOU ARE
  • You spot a quality problem before it becomes a revision request. Your eye for detail in localized assets is not just technical; it includes cultural accuracy, visual coherence, and fit with brand standards.
  • You lead by developing people, not by doing their work for them. You invest in building your team's technical confidence and encourage them to speak up, ask questions, and take ownership of outcomes.
  • You treat a broken process the way a developer treats a bug: something to understand, isolate, and fix properly, not work around indefinitely.
  • You hold your ground with internal clients without creating friction. When priorities conflict or expectations are unrealistic, you navigate those conversations with clarity and a focus on finding a workable path forward.
  • You are organized in a way that scales. You build documentation and workflows that the team can use consistently, not systems that only make sense to you.
  • You are hands-on when the work calls for it and strategic when the team needs direction. You read the situation and adjust without waiting to be told which mode is needed.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

  • A hybrid working model with 2 days working from home every week.
  • A range of well-being events and policies to support employees physically, mentally, and emotionally.
  • Various training packages, including internal training, training sponsorship, and e-learning platforms (iLearn, Udemy, O'Reilly,...).
  • Opportunities to collaborate and train with Gameloft worldwide experts and develop yourself.
  • An attractive monthly salary alongside Tet and other performance bonuses.
  • Minimum 12 days of paid annual leave, plus 5 days of paid sick leave, Christmas leave, Birthday leave, CSR leave,...
  • 100% coverage of mandatory insurance plus private healthcare insurance.
  • A monthly allowance to support lunch meals and working-from-home electricity and Internet bills.
  • Relocation support for international candidates joining from overseas.

Life at Gameloft
  • A collaborative workplace environment, with over 15+ nationalities, where hundreds of world-renowned game titles were born.
  • An open-space office, a canteen, a billiard table, a ping-pong table, and a foosball table.
  • A gaming room equipped with mutiple devices (PS, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, arcade machine,...).
  • A capable and encouraging team of professionals focused on creating compelling video games.
  • A global company where you can meet great people around the world.
  • A fun place to work in the heart of the city.
