Applications are invited to apply for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine vacancy at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust as part of a major expansion of Respiratory services.
This post is based at The Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.
You will be joining a team of 7 Consultants, 1 Respiratory Nurse Consultant, 7 Nurse specialists (sleep, lung cancer, NIV), in-patient Respiratory practitioner team, fully equipped Respiratory Physiology department and staff and a dynamic, rapidly evolving department, reconfiguring to allow targeted sub-specialty work and 7-day respiratory service across the region. An increased Administrative & secretarial team to support clinical staff with adequate offices with IT equipment.
The successful candidate will be expected to support respiratory services at QEQMH which have ward-based working. The Respiratory team at the QEQMH manages patients on Fordwich ward, a 20 bedded ward, which is a purpose-built ward for respiratory patients. NIV patients are managed on this ward and all staff are trained to do this. There will also be involvement with Outpatient Clinics seeing a variety of New and Follow up Respiratory patients.
The appointee will share junior staff with a Consultant consisting of 4 middle grade doctors (including 2 x Higher Specialty Trainee) and 4/5 F1 to IMT grade doctors. An interest in pleural disease management, Lung cancer and ILD would be an advantage. Candidates interested in Intensive care/Respiratory Medicine, or Infectious diseases/Respiratory Medicine are also very welcome and any combination of specialities can be discussed. Any other interests will also be welcomed and supported. Applicants interested in education and involvement with the new Medical School will be supported.
