Wage Information

Job Purpose
Machine Shop – Equipment Service Tech
Provide advanced machining, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programming, fabrication, welding, and equipment support services to maintain and improve production equipment and fixtures. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining equipment using CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software; developing machining processes; determining appropriate fits, finishes, and equipment functionality; and designing fixtures to support production and New Model activities. Through emergency response, precision manufacturing, problem solving, and collaboration with team members, this position minimizes downtime, supports safety, quality, and delivery objectives, and contributes to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Accountabilities
- Complete scheduled work by machining parts to specification across a variety of materials while maximizing safety, quality, and delivery.
- Set up, program, and operate CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining equipment.
- Perform inspection of own parts to ensure accurate completion to part specifications.
- Be able to work from verbal instructions, rough sketches, prints, and 3D models.
- Work in a TEAM environment.
- Work weekends (including Sundays) and holidays to support maintenance and production activities.
- Perform emergency machining and maintenance support for equipment failures affecting safety, quality, and delivery.
- Conceive ideas and produce parts to solve production problems.
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment.
- Perform maintenance and fabrication-type welding (TIG, MIG, and Stick welding).
- Perform routine maintenance on shop equipment.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience
- Tech School or 2 to 4 years of Machining and/or Tool & Die experience is preferred.
Other Job-Specific Skills
- Position supports shutdowns and weekend overtime as needed.
- May need to adjust shifts or hours as needed for support.
- Requires machining support. Examples - Emergency Work Orders, overtime, weekends, shutdowns, etc.
Working Conditions
- Must be willing to work daily overtime / weekends / and holidays as needed.
- Must be will to work 2nd shift for an extended period / indefinitely. (Current 2nd shift hours 2:45pm – 11:15pm)
- Work is preformed inside of a large auto manufacturing plant.
- Must be able stand on concrete floors for 8 to 10 hrs per day. Estimated Amount of Overtime (Weekly) 8HRS plus
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs repetitively.
