Maintenance Mechanic - Aerospace & Defense!

SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the reliability and operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role performs routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on CNC machinery, tooling, heat treat systems, production equipment, and facility equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing issues, respond to equipment breakdowns, and work closely with Production, Engineering, and other departments to minimize downtime and keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machines, production machinery, tooling, heat treat systems, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and control-system issues associated with manufacturing equipment.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on safety and production needs.

Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation to troubleshoot issues and identify replacement parts.

• Perform equipment inspections, safety checks, and maintain accurate maintenance logs and records.
• Assist with the installation, setup, relocation, and startup of new equipment and machinery.
• Support facility maintenance, including basic building, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC-related repairs.
• Work with vendors and contractors on equipment repairs, service, and facility projects as needed.
• Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, and other departments to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions.
• Participates in continuous improvement activities.

• Actively participate, in all established company health and safety training programs, and comply with all policies and procedures.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED) with 5-8 years of hands-on maintenance experience required.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems.
• Experience troubleshooting CNC machinery and automated manufacturing equipment preferred.
• Experience with heat treat equipment, furnaces, ovens, plating/chemical processing equipment, or brazing equipment is a plus.
• Experience working safely around industrial chemical processing equipment and hazardous chemicals, including acids, caustics, and chemical treatment lines, is preferred.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple maintenance requests, and respond effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safe and reliable equipment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull maintenance-related materials and equipment as required.
• Demonstrated ability to solve highly technical problems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and sometimes conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal communication.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
• Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate machine controls, tools, and measuring instruments.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required to load, unload, and inspect parts and equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.
• Ability to visually inspect parts, interpret and read blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and use gauges, and measuring devices.
• Ability to distinguish colors, dimensions, and surface defects when performing quality inspections.
• Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to safely operate equipment in a fast-paced production setting while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other equipment as required.
• Ability to work in an environment with exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including overtime as required.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
• Frequent interaction with machine tools, raw materials, and finished products.
• Compliance with all company safety policies, housekeeping requirements, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention practices.
• Required use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety procedures.
