YOUR ROLE

The Manager, Legal Operations Technology, Analytics & Financial Operations is responsible for maximizing the business value of legal technology, legal data, analytics, outside counsel operations, vendor governance, eBilling administration, and legal financial management processes.

This role serves as the business owner for legal operations technology requirements and partners closely with IT to optimize ONIT, iCertis, NAVEX, Diligent, TrustPoint and related platforms. The position is responsible for legal data governance, reporting, dashboard development, KPI management, vendor oversight, outside counsel operations, spend analytics, budgeting administration, accrual coordination, forecasting support, and operational implementation of legal financial controls.

Supports the technology, data, financial management, reporting, and analytics infrastructure for all Global Legal & Compliance practice areas, including litigation, labor and employment, compliance, privacy, commercial contracting, contract lifecycle management (CLM), intellectual property, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters, supply chain, and manufacturing operations. Responsible for transforming operational data into actionable business intelligence while maximizing the value of legal technology investments.

The role acts as the primary liaison between Legal Operations and IT, ensuring legal business requirements are translated into system capabilities, reporting solutions, and scalable operational processes. The position functions as a senior individual contributor capable of independently leading global initiatives and driving measurable operational performance improvements. This role supports all Global Legal & Compliance practice areas and is organized by operational responsibility, not legal subject matter.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Technology Business Ownership

· Define legal business requirements for ONIT, iCertis, NAVEX, Diligent, Trustpoint and other legal technology platforms.

· Partner with IT to optimize business use of ONIT, iCertis, NAVEX, Diligent, IP management systems, records management platforms, AI-enabled legal technologies, and related legal operations tools.

· Define business requirements, reporting requirements, and user adoption strategies for legal technologies supporting all legal disciplines.

· Partner with IT regarding system enhancements, workflow improvements, integrations, user adoption, testing, and change management.

· Serve as legal operations lead for technology optimization initiatives.

· Support adoption of emerging legal technology and AI-enabled solutions.

Commercial, CLM, IP & Corporate Systems Support

· Serve as Legal Operations lead for business reporting, analytics, and operational support relating to iCertis and other contract lifecycle management platforms.

· Develop contract lifecycle, contract volume, cycle-time, obligation management, and clause analytics reporting.

· Support corporate governance technology, reporting, records management, entity management, and board-related operational processes.

· Develop reporting and dashboards supporting intellectual property portfolios, outside IP counsel spend, invention disclosures, and related operational metrics.

· Support M&A technology, diligence tracking, reporting, workflow, and integration-related operational initiatives.

Data Governance & Analytics

· Develop and maintain legal operations KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting.

· Establish data governance standards, data quality controls, and reporting requirements.

· Analyze legal department trends involving matters, litigation, employment claims, compliance activities, contracts, vendors, and spend.

· Produce executive-level reporting for Legal leadership, Finance, HR, Compliance, and management stakeholders.

· Develop metrics and dashboards across litigation, labor and employment, compliance, privacy, contracts, IP, M&A, corporate governance, regulatory matters, and legal spend.

· Build executive reporting linking legal demand, risk, spend, service delivery, workload, and business outcomes across legal practice areas.

· Establish KPI frameworks supporting both legal department leadership and business stakeholders.

Outside Counsel & Vendor Operations

· Administer global preferred counsel and legal vendor programs.

· Coordinate law firm onboarding, panel management, performance reviews, scorecards, and reporting.

· Support RFPs, vendor evaluations, benchmarking exercises, and convergence initiatives.

· Monitor adherence to engagement standards, reporting obligations, and operational requirements.

Legal Financial Operations

· Administer legal spend management programs and financial controls established by Legal leadership.

· Support budgeting, forecasting, accrual collection, invoice management, spend reporting, and financial analysis.

· Monitor outside counsel billing compliance and operational performance.

· Coordinate monthly and quarterly spend reviews with Legal and Finance stakeholders.

Reporting & Business Intelligence

· Develop executive reporting packages and operational dashboards.

· Monitor legal department performance metrics, trends, capacity, risks, and operational effectiveness.

· Generate actionable insights to improve resource allocation, vendor management, and operational efficiency.

AI, Automation & Continuous Improvement

· Evaluate opportunities to automate legal operations processes.

· Partner with IT and external vendors to implement new capabilities.

· Monitor legal technology market developments and recommend improvements.

· Support implementation of AI-enabled legal operations tools and reporting capabilities.

Project Leadership

· Independently lead technology, analytics, vendor management, and operational improvement initiatives.

· Facilitate alignment among Legal, IT, Finance, Procurement, Compliance, and external partners.

· Manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree required.

· 5-8 years of experience in Legal Operations, legal technology, eBilling, legal financial management, legal analytics, vendor management, or a related field.

· Experience working with enterprise legal management platforms such as ONIT, Legal Tracker, Brightflag, Mitratech, SimpleLegal, or similar solutions.

· Experience working with legal technology platforms such as iCertis, Diligent, NAVEX, and others.

· Demonstrated experience with legal spend management, outside counsel operations, reporting, dashboards, and data analytics.

· Advanced proficiency with Excel, Power BI, reporting platforms, and data analysis tools.

· Project management certification or training preferred (PMP, CAPM, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent).

· Experience supporting legal technology, legal analytics, legal financial management, vendor management, contract lifecycle management, legal reporting, or enterprise legal management systems.

· Familiarity with legal operations supporting multiple legal disciplines, including commercial contracting, compliance, privacy, litigation, corporate governance, IP, regulatory matters, and M&A.

· Experience translating business requirements into technology, reporting, workflow, and analytics solutions.

· Experience leading enterprise or global operational improvement initiatives.

· Ability to work effectively with technical teams and translate legal business requirements into technology solutions.

· Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities.

· Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills.

· Professional proficiency in English.

· Local residents only (or those willing to relocate), with the ability to work onsite in Troy, MI.

· Must be legally able to work in the United States without requirement of any type of visa sponsorship or transfer now, or at any time in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

· MBA, master's degree, or related advanced business credential.

· CLOC certification or legal operations professional designation.

· Experience administering legal spend programs exceeding several million dollars annually.

· Experience with ONIT, Navex, Diligent, iCertis, Contract Lifecycle Management platforms, AI-enabled legal tools (Harvey, Legora, CoCounsel, etc.), and business intelligence platforms.

· Experience with iCertis, ONIT, Diligent, NAVEX, OneTrust, MaxVal, Symphony, or comparable legal technology platforms.

· Experience developing Power BI dashboards or executive reporting supporting contracts, corporate governance, compliance, legal spend, litigation, IP, or enterprise risk functions.

· Experience supporting legal AI solutions such as Harvey, Legora, CoCounsel, Microsoft Copilot, or similar legal technology platforms.

· Experience supporting legal departments within public companies.

· Experience with law firm panel management and legal vendor governance.
