Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive end-to-end accountability for procurement, contracting, and supply chain performance to ensure purchasing activity supports project milestones, critical path requirements, and construction readiness.
  • Ensure commercial decisions balance cost optimization, schedules, quality, and project risk management.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with Engineering, Construction, suppliers, contractors, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Align owner priorities, EPCM purchasing activity, internal stakeholders, and external suppliers around a common commercial execution plan and procurement strategy.
  • Represent Great Bear in senior-level commercial discussions with Tier-1 equipment manufacturers, key vendors, contractors, service providers, and strategic suppliers.
  • Lead contract development, negotiation, administration, and performance management activities.
  • Lead package award strategy, commercial negotiations, and commitments for major equipment, long-lead items, construction contracts, contractor capacity, and critical site services.
  • Establish site supply chain readiness plans, including materials tracking, warehousing, expediting, delivery sequencing, and logistics controls required as construction activity ramps up.
  • Engage local and Indigenous suppliers in alignment with project commitments, commercial requirements, and stakeholder engagement objectives.
  • Ensure commercial governance policies and procedures are effectively implemented and maintained.

.

  • Support risk identification, contract compliance, supplier management, and commercial reporting activities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to project leadership regarding procurement, contracting, and supply chain risks and opportunities.
  • Lead commercial planning for major project transitions, including engineering through construction and operational readiness phases.
  • Assess existing procurement, supply chain, logistics, contracts, and commercial processes to determine effectiveness for the project’s phase of growth and execution.
  • Ensure procurement, logistics, warehousing, and contract management processes evolve as project and activity increases.
  • Lead, mentor, and align a senior team of procurement, contracts, logistics, and commercial professionals across multiple locations, creating clear accountability and consistent execution standards.
  • Create an environment focused on shared objectives, accountability, continuous improvement, and effective problem solving.
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
  • Support a work environment that is aligned with Kinross’ Safeground principles.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
