SUMMARY:

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing the Master Production Schedule to meet customer demand while optimizing production capacity, materials, and resources.

This role requires extensive production experience and hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX. The Master Scheduler will take ownership of the production scheduling process, improve the use of AX, identify and correct system and planning issues, and develop effective schedules that keep the shop running efficiently.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader and problem solver who understands manufacturing operations, can make decisions in a fast-paced environment, and can drive improvements across Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strive toward a culture of proactive safety.
  • Own and manage the Master Production Schedule based on customer demand, capacity, materials, labor, and production priorities.
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics AX to plan, schedule, release, and monitor production.
  • Identify and correct issues within AX, including work orders, BOMs, routings, inventory, capacity, and planning data.
  • Improve and expand the use of underutilized AX functionality to increase production visibility, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Develop and adjust production schedules based on capacity, material availability, customer priorities, and shop-floor constraints.
  • Work directly with Production to prioritize work, address bottlenecks, and maintain schedule performance.
  • Monitor production progress and proactively identify shortages, delays, capacity constraints, and risks to customer delivery.
  • Collaborate with Production, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Account Management to execute the production schedule.
  • Analyze forecasts, S&OP data, inventory, capacity, and customer demand to develop realistic production plans.
  • Participate in daily production planning and S&OP meetings.
  • Establish and monitor scheduling metrics, including schedule adherence, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery.
  • Identify and implement improvements to production planning processes, systems, and tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and leader for production scheduling and AX processes.
  • Make timely decisions and adjust priorities as production conditions change.
  • Support a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and Lean manufacturing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in production planning, scheduling, production control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production flow, capacity, materials, WIP, work orders, BOMs, and routings.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing, machining, aerospace, defense, or another build-to-order environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot ERP/MRP issues and improve system functionality and processes.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability without direct authority.
  • Ability to make sound decisions quickly and prioritize competing demands.
  • APICS CPIM certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate machine controls, tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required to load, unload, and inspect parts and equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to visually inspect parts, interpret and read blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and use gauges, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, dimensions, and surface defects when performing quality inspections.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in a fast-paced production setting while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other equipment as required.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including overtime as required.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
  • Frequent interaction with machine tools, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Compliance with all company safety policies, housekeeping requirements, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention practices.
  • Required use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety procedures.
