Description Job Summary: The Math Coordinator works closely with the Director of Math and secondary mathematics educators to lead the network in disrupting inequitable scholar outcomes by ensuring all scholars have access to rigorous, grade-level mathematics instruction. The Coordinator supports teachers/scholars through data analysis, research, and evidence-based instruction to build a strong foundation in complex mathematical concepts. This role must take a hands-on approach to improving instruction and effectiveness by working at various levels (classroom-, school-, and network-wide) to directly improve instruction and scholar learning. This may include modeling lessons, helping educator groups plan intentional instruction according to scholars' needs, facilitating professional development, and coaching teachers. Compensation and Benefits: Compensation : Propel provides a competitive salary for Coordinators. Based on relevant prior work experience, our salary range for this role is $61,206-102,358 (year 4 of salary scale) Relocation Allowance : A relocation allowance for new hires moving to the area from 90 miles away or further. Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision plan options at a low cost for individual employees and families. Retirement: New hires participate in a 403(b); Propel contributes 5% automatically and matches up to 4%. This increases after 5 years. Paid Leave: In addition to 2 paid Wellness Days annually, all teachers receive 5 sick days and 10 Personal Days Tuition Assistance: Reimbursement of up to $3,000 annually upon completion of course and receipt of grades for coursework that meets our eligibility requirements. Wellness Benefit: Reimbursement of $20 per month for wellness activities including Gym Memberships, health programs, etc. Additionally, staff have the ability to earn up to $300 for participation in a Wellness Program each year. Key Job Elements: Collaborate with the Director of Math to strategically plan Propel's secondary mathematics scope and sequence, including determining shared instructional strategies and resources. Lead the network-wide implementation and strengthening of Tier 1 math instruction for grades 7-12, focusing on rigorous, engaging, and standard-aligned practices. Work with the Academic Team to determine and implement shared, high-quality mathematics instructional strategies and resources. Vet appropriate math interventions for secondary scholars in collaboration with the Special Education Team and identify effective instructional practices to address scholar deficits. Develop common mathematics assessments and rubrics aligned to state standards and eligible content. Coach mathematics educators (grades 7-12) on effective instructional practices through co-planning, observations, and structured feedback cycles. Train 7-12 math educators on how to access and analyze assessment data to plan personalized and small group instruction for scholars. Analyze and share mathematics data with educators, leaders, and academic team members to inform instructional decisions and monitor progress. Lead high-quality professional learning opportunities for 7-12 mathematics educators on topics like the curriculum, best practices, standards alignment, data analysis, and effective instructional techniques. Work with building leaders to set instructional goals, revise curriculum resources, and strategically plan for improved scholar outcomes based on building and grade-level trends. Work with leaders, and educators to provide mathematics-focused resources and support to families. Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Math. Qualifications & Skills: Level II Certification required. Mathematics Certification (appropriate for grades 7-12) required. Minimum: Master's Degree in Education. Extensive experience with structured mathematics approaches and evidence-based practices for adolescent learners. Minimum seven years of classroom teaching experience within the K-12 setting, with significant experience in grades 7-12, preferably in urban education. Exceptional communicator who can recognize the needs of various stakeholders and problem solve effective solutions. Strong grasp of effective mathematics instructional methods and strategies for educating diverse urban youth. Technology savvy with web-based instructional techniques and tools, and computer proficiency, including Google Applications and internet tools. Experience in analyzing complex data and using results to provide intentional instructional moves to help every scholar succeed. Excellence in time management, organization, multi-tasking, prioritization, and follow-through. Successful experience with providing professional development opportunities to improve instructional effectiveness.
