Mechanical Engineer

Phoenix Area | On-Site | $130,000 to $180,000 Base

Arena Staffing has partnered with a growing semiconductor and advanced technology organization in the Phoenix area that is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design work across large-scale semiconductor, industrial, and advanced manufacturing projects.

This role is designed for an experienced mechanical engineer who can take responsible charge of technical work, support stamping requirements in Arizona, and guide mechanical systems from early design through construction and startup.

Why you will want this role. Here is what's in it for you.

  • Direct semiconductor project exposure: The role supports work associated with the TSMC semiconductor development in North Phoenix, giving the engineer direct experience in a major advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Long-term project outlook: The organization anticipates semiconductor construction activity in the Phoenix market continuing for more than ten years.
  • Broad technical ownership: The engineer will influence HVAC, utility, piping, exhaust, wastewater, and equipment-selection decisions rather than operating in a narrow design-production capacity.
  • Relocation support may be available: Candidates outside Arizona may be considered, with potential temporary apartment accommodations and approximately one month of housing support.
  • Sponsorship may be considered: The company can support certain employment sponsorship situations, including some H-1B transfers. Each case is reviewed individually.

Role Snapshot

The Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical engineering design for commercial, industrial, semiconductor, and advanced technology facilities.

The position will be responsible for system calculations, equipment sizing, HVAC and utility design, interdisciplinary coordination, client and contractor communication, construction administration, field support, and QA/QC.

Because the role includes responsible-charge responsibilities, the selected engineer must hold an active Arizona Professional Engineer license and be able to support the review and stamping of mechanical design packages.

What You Will Own

  • Lead mechanical design from conceptual planning through design development, construction administration, and startup.
  • Develop and review system calculations, equipment sizing, utility demand analyses, and mechanical design strategies.
  • Design and evaluate HVAC systems, air handling units, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, exhaust ventilation, mechanical piping, and wastewater-related equipment.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with electrical, structural, controls, fire protection, architectural, and other project disciplines.
  • Lead technical discussions with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, change requests, and field conditions and recommend technically sound resolutions.
  • Support site walks, field observations, punch-list development, startup activities, and installation verification.
  • Apply QA/QC practices to identify constructability issues, coordination conflicts, code concerns, and technical risks before issuance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers through technical review and day-to-day guidance.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Active Arizona Professional Engineer license with responsible-charge and stamping authority.
  • Mechanical engineering and design experience within commercial, institutional, industrial, or comparable complex facilities.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, air handling, VAV, chillers, boilers, pumps, exhaust systems, mechanical piping, or related building systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical design and BIM coordination.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects through design, construction administration, field coordination, and technical problem-solving.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Semiconductor facility, cleanroom, fab, or process-utility experience.
  • Advanced manufacturing or other high-tech industrial project experience.
  • Navisworks experience for coordination and clash detection.
  • Knowledge of IMC, IBC, ASHRAE standards, and relevant NFPA requirements.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading a small technical team.

Interview Process

Interview details will be shared with qualified candidates during the recruiting process.

Compensation, Benefits and How to Apply

Base Salary: $130,000 to $180,000 annually, depending on experience and technical background.

Confirmed benefits include:

  • 401(k)
  • Approximately 15 days of annual vacation

The role is on-site in the Phoenix area.

Candidates requiring employment sponsorship may also be considered depending on their individual circumstances.
