Location: Wailuku, HI Status: Full-time Days: TBD Pay Rate: $28.19 - $42.24 Sign-On Bonus/Relocation Available In this Medical Technologist Senior / Medical Laboratory Scientist Senior role, you will: Perform routine and advanced laboratory testing procedures in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures, quality assurance, and quality control requirements. Analyze, review, correlate, and report laboratory results while identifying discrepancies and consulting with supervisors or pathologists as needed. Collect and oversee specimen collection while ensuring proper patient identification, safety, infection control, and testing priorities. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment to ensure optimal performance. Assume technical responsibility for a designated laboratory specialty area and provide support during supervisor absences. Monitor laboratory quality indicators, participate in quality management activities, and support continuous process improvement initiatives. Train laboratory personnel, students, and new employees on testing procedures, quality standards, and laboratory operations. Assist with development and validation of new laboratory tests, procedures, and workflows. Monitor personnel competency and provide coaching and additional instruction as necessary. Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory staff, and healthcare providers to ensure accurate, timely results and exceptional patient care. Maintain compliance with accreditation, regulatory, confidentiality, safety, and legal requirements. Perform advanced testing, examinations, and analyses in specialized laboratory disciplines when required. All you need is: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science. Current and active certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), formerly MT/CLS, or certification through American Medical Technologists (AMT). Valid and current State of Hawaii license as a Medical Technologist. Minimum four (4) years of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or commercial laboratory setting. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and laboratory information systems. Strong reading, writing, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively prioritize workload. Bonus points if you’ve got: Specialized experience in Microbiology and/or Blood Bank. Previous experience serving as a lead technologist, trainer, or technical resource within a clinical laboratory. Experience supporting laboratory accreditation, quality management, and competency assessment programs. Experience writing and updating laboratory policies and procedures.
