The Team You're Joining

SFOC works to accelerate the phase-out of fossil fuels and the transition to renewable energy, tackling the most urgent issues in the climate crisis alongside a wide range of partners in Korea, across Asia, and around the world.
Through collaboration with domestic and international government stakeholders, academia, industry, and civil society, the SFOC Methane & HFCs Team conducts research, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement to reduce methane and HFC emissions in Korea and internationally. The team focuses on methane emissions from the energy and waste sectors, as well as policies to accelerate the transition away from high-global warming refrigerants.

How You'll Contribute

Monitor and analyze key Korean and international methane policy developments, and develop methane mitigation strategies
Lead policy research and stakeholder outreach initiatives to advance methane mitigation in the energy and waste sectors
Advocate for policy change with government agencies and key stakeholders across Korean and international settings
Develop strategic partnerships and drive collaborative initiatives with Korean and international civil society organizations and research institutions
Plan and manage seminars, forums, and other stakeholder engagement events

Who We're Looking For

Proficiency in both Korean and English (speaking and writing)
2+ years of work or research experience in climate, environment, energy, or related fields
Genuine interest in methane and HFC emissions reduction, and climate issues more broadly
Willingness to learn about and understand the energy and waste sectors and methane mitigation frameworks
Outstanding collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to translate policy research into advocacy initiatives, campaigns, and stakeholder engagement

Nice to Have

Experience managing projects and collaborating with Korean and international civil society organizations, research institutions, government agencies, and other stakeholders
Experience drafting research reports and proposals in both Korean and English
Degree in environmental studies, engineering, resource management, circular economy, or related fields
Experience planning and organizing Korean and international events, workshops, or conferences
