This is an exciting opportunity to join the maternity team within NHS Forth Valley’s Women and Children’s Directorate. We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate midwives who are committed to providing safe, personalised and holistic care to women, babies and families across Forth Valley.
Our midwives work as autonomous practitioners within supportive multidisciplinary teams, providing care throughout the pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey. Opportunities are available across our integrated maternity service, including community midwifery teams and core hospital areas. Applicants should be motivated, adaptable and willing to contribute across all areas of midwifery practice.
We offer a range of shift patterns, including 7.5-hour, 10.5-hour and 12-hour shifts, supporting greater flexibility and work-life balance.
Forth Valley Royal Hospital is a modern acute hospital set within attractive woodland surroundings. Midwives also provide care from community hubs, enabling women and families to receive high-quality maternity care closer to home.
Our maternity facilities include a well-established alongside midwifery unit with two birthing pools. Labour ward rooms are designed to support a calm and welcoming birth environment, with access to portable CTG monitoring, aromatherapy and a range of equipment to support movement, comfort and individual birth preferences.
NHS Forth Valley provides care for approximately 3,000 births each year, serving communities across a diverse geographical area that includes both rural and urban locations. We are ideally situated between Glasgow and Edinburgh, with good transport links to both cities.
You will be joining a friendly and supportive team that values collaboration, professional development and continuous improvement. We have positive working relationships across the multidisciplinary team and encourage midwives to contribute their ideas, develop their practice and help shape the future of maternity services.
The Women and Children’s Directorate provides services for women, children and young people across home, community and acute hospital settings. We are committed to joined-up, person-centred care throughout the whole care journey.
