About the role

Peak is a mature underground gold mine with a long operating history, which means the engineering challenges are real, varied and highly influential.

As our Mining Engineer responsible for the Mid-Term Planning, you'll be developing mine designs and schedules that balance production requirements with practical underground constraints. You'll work closely with operations, geology, maintenance and ventilation teams to determine how and when the orebody is extracted, ensuring plans are achievable, safe and aligned with business objectives.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys understanding the bigger picture, working collaboratively across disciplines and seeing their planning work translated into operational outcomes underground.

  • Roster: 8/6, 12 hours per day (Dayshift only)

  • Location: Peak Mine, Cobar NSW

Travel options

  • Residents enjoy a balanced roster and the opportunity to settle into the family-friendly township of Cobar. Relocation support is available, along with a residential allowance

  • DIDO if you live within an 800km radius of the Mine site which includes a travel allowance

  • FIFO from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification

  • Prior experience in a mining engineering planning role

  • Experience in underground mine design and scheduling

  • Experience developing medium to long-term mine plans

  • Proficiency using Deswik CAD, Deswik UGDB and Deswik Sched

  • Strong understanding of underground mining methods and planning principles

  • Experience contributing to budgeting, forecasting and reserve planning activities

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively across Technical Services and Operations teams

  • Commercial awareness with a focus on safe, practical and efficient mining outcomes

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
