Nurse Manager – Surgical Services Location: Strafford, VA Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Schedule: Full-Time, Rotating Weekends Benefits: Full Benefits Package Relocation: Partial Relocation Package Available Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Surgical Services to provide leadership and operational oversight for the Operating Room (OR) and Central Sterile Services departments. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical services while leading and developing a strong perioperative team. The ideal candidate will have recent acute-care Operating Room experience, strong leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of perioperative nursing practice, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance. Key Responsibilities Provide 24-hour operational oversight of the Operating Room and Central Sterile Services. Lead daily OR operations, including surgical scheduling, staffing, workflow coordination, and case progression. Ensure efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, and surgical resources. Develop and manage staff schedules to maintain appropriate staffing levels while meeting productivity goals. Monitor labor utilization, including premium labor, and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency. Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate perioperative staff. Foster a culture centered on patient safety, teamwork, accountability, and exceptional patient care. Oversee supply management, inventory utilization, and cost-containment initiatives. Analyze departmental metrics and prepare reports related to Surgical Services performance. Lead quality-improvement initiatives and support evidence-based clinical practice. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, infection-prevention practices, and risk-management initiatives. Collaborate with physicians and organizational leadership to improve patient flow and overall operational performance. Promote employee engagement, retention, professional development, and a positive team environment. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a valid multi-state compact nursing license. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) . Minimum of 2 years of recent Operating Room/Surgical Services experience in an acute-care hospital. Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practice and patient-safety standards. Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
