Job Family Group: HSSE Group Job Description: About the Role As the Operations, Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) HSE Manager, you will be a trusted advisor to operational leadership, helping to strengthen safety culture, improve operational discipline and reduce risk across field operations. Working closely with Operations and M&E teams, you will provide leadership, coaching and technical expertise to ensure HSE standards are effectively implemented and continuously improved across Rumaila's operations and contractor activities. What You'll Do Partner with Operations and M&E leadership to drive strong HSE performance and promote a positive safety culture. Provide expert guidance on HSE standards, regulatory requirements and company procedures. Coach, mentor and develop HSE Advisors, Site Safety Supervisors and operational personnel. Support effective hazard identification, risk assessment and the application of the Hierarchy of Controls. Lead and support operational risk management activities, assurance programmes and verification processes. Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis and the effective management of corrective actions. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HSE policies, standards and management systems. Monitor HSE performance, identify trends and recommend practical improvement opportunities. Engage with contractors and operational teams to ensure consistent implementation of HSE expectations across work sites. Experience & Qualifications Essential Degree in Engineering, Science, HSE or a related discipline. Significant operational HSE experience with progressively increasing responsibility. Strong leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills. ASP certification and IOSH Graduate Membership. Proven track record of improving HSE performance through coaching, mentoring and engagement. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within operational environments and support front-line teams. Preferred CSP certification and/or Chartered professional status. Experience working within joint venture environments. Experience leading HSE activities in multicultural and geographically dispersed teams. Arabic language skills. Following the US Department of State’s Travel Advisory for Iraq on 11 January 2020, combined with our own assessments, and for the safety of all personnel, please note the following travel restriction: US citizens are not permitted to travel to Iraq for the purposes of performing work in Rumaila for BP. For these purposes, the definition of ‘US citizen’ includes anyone with dual nationality, one of which is US. Due to limited medical infrastructure within Northern Iraq cities and for security reasons, BP employees cannot be sent to the local medical facilities for medical interventions, and serious cases have to be evacuated from the country. Therefore, we have more stringent medical requirements for fitness for posting in Iraq. These requirements broadly follow UK oil and gas medical protocols for fitness to work at offshore installations but also reflect the limited local medical capability in-country. This means that some chronic or acute medical conditions may have implications or restrictions for employees to work in Iraq. The Iraqi government require all expatriate workers in Iraq to complete a HIV test, Hepatitis B surface antigen and Hepatitis C antibodies test. This will be tested in Iraq as well as in your pre-deployment medical assessment. The current position in Iraq is that any positive result to Hep B/C or HIV is not acceptable for a business visa, work permit or residency certificate to be issued. Please also note that due to safety and security considerations, BP rotators cannot exceed a weight of 35 BMI.
