The Role
We are looking to recruit an Orthotist to join the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Orthotic Service within the Acute Division, Clyde Sector. The post holder will provide specialist orthotic assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients with a wide range of conditions across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting patients to improve mobility, function and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
The Orthotist is responsible for managing a defined clinical caseload and providing specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning for patients with a diverse range of orthotic needs. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and HCPC standards, the post holder will undertake orthotic interventions, prescribe and fit orthotic devices, monitor patient progress and evaluate outcomes. The role involves working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care, supporting health promotion initiatives and contributing to service development. The successful candidate will supervise and support Orthotic Technicians, Clinical Assistants and students, participate in clinical audit and quality improvement activities, provide education and training to colleagues and contribute to the ongoing development of evidence-based practice across the service.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Degree or Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics leading to HCPC registration.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Evidence of continuing professional development and application of learning within practice.
- Good knowledge and experience of orthotic practice across a variety of clinical settings.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage an autonomous caseload and make independent clinical decisions.
- Experience of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to supervise, support and develop junior staff, assistants and students.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and electronic patient management systems.
- Understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and audit processes.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice and service development principles.
- Completion of NHSGGC induction programme.
- Up-to-date mandatory training including Child Protection and Fire Safety.
