We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join Words First, working across two schools in Reading.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an OT who enjoys being part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), working closely with other professionals to deliver integrated, child-centred support within the school environment.
At Words First, we believe the best outcomes happen when professionals work together, sharing knowledge, ideas and expertise to help children and young people thrive.
What Makes This Role Exciting?
Working across two schools offers a fantastic balance of variety, consistency and collaboration.
- Be part of an established MDT: Work alongside other therapists and education professionals within the schools, sharing expertise and developing joined-up approaches to supporting pupils.
- Build strong relationships: Become a valued member of both school communities, working consistently with pupils, teachers and support staff.
- Enjoy variety in your clinical work: Support pupils with a diverse range of needs while developing your skills and experience across two settings.
- Make an impact beyond individual sessions: Embed therapeutic strategies into classrooms and everyday school routines.
- Collaborate and learn: Benefit from shared problem-solving, joint working and opportunities to learn from other disciplines.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll deliver high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy across universal, targeted and specialist levels of provision, including:
- Assessing pupils' sensory, motor and functional needs.
- Delivering individual and group interventions.
- Developing practical strategies to support participation, independence and access to learning.
- Collaborating with teachers, families and other professionals to embed therapeutic approaches throughout the school day.
- Providing training, advice and support to school staff.
- Contributing to a collaborative, neuro-affirming and strengths-based approach to supporting pupils.
Why Join Words First?
You'll have the opportunity to work closely with an MDT within your schools while also benefiting from the support, expertise and opportunities available through our wider Words First community.
Here's what you can look forward to:
- Excellent clinical supervision and guidance from experienced Occupational Therapists.
- Fantastic CPD opportunities, specialist training and support to develop your clinical interests.
- A large, supportive multidisciplinary team of OTs, Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and other specialists.
- Opportunities for career progression and ongoing professional growth.
- Regular team socials, events and opportunities to connect with colleagues.
- A welcoming, collaborative culture where your ideas, wellbeing and professional development are valued.
- UK visa sponsorship available for eligible candidates, including international applicants who meet the relevant professional registration and visa requirements.
Who We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from qualified Occupational Therapists who are HCPC registered or eligible to obtain HCPC registration.
You'll be someone who enjoys collaborative working, brings creativity and curiosity to clinical practice, and is excited by the opportunity to contribute to a school-based multidisciplinary team.
Newly qualified, experienced and internationally trained Occupational Therapists are welcome to apply!
