Providence is a full-time Pediatric Neurologist for comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of infants, children, and adolescents with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles, and nervous system in Anchorage, Alaska. The physician collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based, family-centered care and supports quality improvement, education, and research initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Care

  • Evaluate and diagnose pediatric patients with neurological disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Treat conditions including: epilepsy and seizure disorders, headaches and migraines, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, movement disorders, neurogenetic conditions, autism spectrum disorders (neurologic evaluation as appropriate), traumatic brain injurie, stroke and cerebrovascular disorders
  • Interpret diagnostic studies such as EEGs, EMGs, nerve conduction studies, and neuroimaging
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient neurological consultations
  • Coordinate care with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, developmental specialists, rehabilitation providers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis
  • Promote adherence to treatment plans and medication management
  • Provide counseling and support resources to families managing chronic neurological conditions

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Neurology Fellowship
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology
  • Unrestricted medical license (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Alaska
  • DEA registration and controlled substance prescribing privileges, as applicable
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
  • Expertise in pediatric neurological disorders and treatments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to patient-centered, culturally sensitive care
  • Ability to manage complex and chronic neurological conditions
  • Hospital, outpatient clinic, and telemedicine settings
  • Participation in on-call coverage as assigned
  • Interaction with pediatric patients and families across diverse populations
