Show job description

Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At Stegra, we’re building an impact-driven, sustainable company - and we need a diverse, inclusive team to make it happen.

If you share our passion but don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the perfect fit for this role, or another as we grow.

At Stegra, we’re not just building a plant, we’re proving that sustainable industry is possible. And to do that, we need people like you.

Join a team where safety comes first. Where we support each other, learn as we go, and make space for everyone to grow and contribute. This is your chance to be part of something big - while being closer to nature and leading a balanced, purposeful life.

We are looking for an experienced People Business Partner to join us on a one-year fixed-term contract, covering for a colleague on parental leave, with a start in mid-February. During this time, you will play an important role in supporting our leaders, developing our organisation and shaping how we work as we continue to grow in Boden.

What you’ll do
No two days will be the same. As our operations continue to scale, we will welcome hundreds of new colleagues who want to make a difference together with us. In this role, you will work across operational, tactical and strategic People topics, leading and implementing initiatives that support one of the largest industrial projects in Sweden.
You will report to our Head of People & Organisation Boden and work closely with leaders and colleagues across the local organisation. You will also collaborate with the wider People & Organisation team across areas including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Relocation & Mobility, Payroll, and Leadership, Learning & Development.
We are a growing company with few silos between teams, so your responsibilities will evolve together with the organisation. You can expect plenty of opportunities to contribute beyond your immediate area and take on new challenges along the way.

  • Partner with leaders on organisational development, workforce planning, retention and employee engagement.

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve People policies, processes and ways of working to support the needs of a growing organisation.

  • Lead and implement People initiatives, ensuring they translate into practical value for leaders, employees and the wider business.

  • Coach and support managers across areas including workforce planning, talent management, organisational development, performance, employee relations and the organisational and social work environment.

  • Work closely with our trade unions, manage labour-law matters and negotiations, and support leaders in ensuring compliance with Swedish employment legislation and collective agreements.

  • Stay up to date with developments in labour relations, employment legislation and People practices, translating relevant changes into practical actions for the organisation.

  • Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative culture built on trust, continuous improvement and strong cross-functional cooperation.

What you’ll bring
You’re curious and believe that real progress happens when we work together. You’re comfortable moving between strategic questions and hands-on People matters, and you know when to coach, when to challenge and when a clear decision is needed.
You build trust with leaders and employees while maintaining integrity and sound judgement. You enjoy working in an environment where not everything is already defined and see growth and change as opportunities to create better ways of working.
Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below:

  • A university degree in Human Resources or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Solid experience as an HR Business Partner, People Business Partner or in a similar broad People role, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Swedish employment law, labour relations and HR practices, with experience supporting both white-collar and blue-collar employees.

  • Experience working with trade unions, collective agreements and labour-law negotiations in a Swedish context.

  • Strong business understanding and the ability to connect People priorities with operational and organisational needs.

  • Strong coaching and relationship-building skills, with the confidence and judgement to constructively challenge leaders and stakeholders when needed.

  • Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English.

  • A collaborative, pragmatic and solution-oriented approach, with the drive to make things happen and a commitment to Stegra’s values and long-term purpose.

This is Stegra

Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.

By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.

Our Boden Site

Our Boden site is located just west of Boden City, right in the heart of a growing green industrial hub in Northern Sweden. It’s where we’re building one of the world’s most modern, sustainable steel plants—designed with safety, efficiency, and people in mind. With just a 10-minute commute from town, you'll be close to both cutting-edge technology and the everyday convenience of living near nature, schools, and community life.
