Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner (PA/NP), U.S. Virgin Islands (Relocation) | Correctional Medicine Reference: 01CLFCT009 Location: St. Croix (Kingshill) and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; on-site (assignment to one or both facilities based on need) Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099) Compensation: $95 to $115 per hour (1099 independent contractor), or a W-2 salaried option with benefits; full-time schedule, approximately 2,080 hours annually Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8-hour shifts or 4-day 10-hour shifts as assigned; Atlantic Standard Time Agency Environment: Territorial correctional healthcare: contracted clinical staffing supporting the medical division of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections; clinical scheduling and supervision by the Government Medical Director and Health Service Administrator Position Overview CLF Consultants LLC seeks Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners for full-time correctional medicine engagements with the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections on St. Croix and St. Thomas. The provider delivers primary care to the facility population: intake examinations, chronic disease management, sick call, procedures, and urgent response, under physician supervision consistent with Virgin Islands scope-of-practice requirements and with clinical scheduling by the Government Medical Director. This engagement suits an experienced PA or NP who wants broad-spectrum practice: in a correctional setting you manage everything from hypertension and diabetes to wound repair, EKGs, and acute presentations, with a defined 40-hour week and no hospital census volatility. Mainland candidates receive relocation and travel support and full Virgin Islands licensure assistance. Experienced emergency, urgent care, military, and rural or correctional medicine providers transition well into this role. Key Responsibilities Interview and examine patients on arrival as part of intake assessment screening, and perform annual examinations to identify new diagnoses and prescribe treatment under physician supervision Provide continuing care for patients with chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and pulmonary disease Perform routine procedures including EKG, IM and SC injections, foley insertion, venipuncture, immunizations, wound repair, and wound care Prescribe medications and monitor for side effects and drug interactions (NP scope) or under supervising-physician protocols (PA scope) Order and interpret diagnostic tests, and counsel patients on laboratory, radiology, emergency, and specialist results Address acute concerns through the sick call process and respond to urgent and emergent presentations Educate patients on disease processes and therapy, support accurate medical records, and develop individualized treatment plans including non-pharmacologic interventions Communicate effectively with mental health, medical, and security staff, and coordinate with outside professionals for continuity of care Required Qualifications PA: graduation from an ARC-PA accredited program and current NCCPA certification; or NP: MSN or DNP from an accredited program with national board certification (ANCC or AANP) Active licensure in the U.S. Virgin Islands, or active U.S. licensure with eligibility for Virgin Islands licensure (CLFC supports the application; VI licensure must be completed before start) Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in primary care, emergency medicine, urgent care, or correctional medicine Current BLS certification; prescriptive authority or eligibility including DEA registration as applicable Strong procedural skills and documentation discipline Ability to pass facility security clearance and background screening Strongly Preferred Qualifications Correctional, detention, or institutional medicine experience Emergency or urgent care background with independent triage judgment Chronic care program experience following national clinical guidelines ACLS certification Existing ties to the U.S. Virgin Islands or Caribbean region Why Practice in the U.S. Virgin Islands No passport required: the U.S. Virgin Islands is a U.S. territory, so U.S. citizens travel with a standard government ID. U.S. licensure standards and a U.S. dollar economy, with CLFC support for Virgin Islands licensure by endorsement (typically 4 to 8 weeks). Caribbean island lifestyle on St. Croix or St. Thomas: year-round climate, beaches, and a close-knit community. Mission-driven work serving a medically underserved population where your clinical judgment has direct impact. Relocation and licensure support so the move is straightforward, not a hurdle. Compensation and Engagement Details Hourly rate range: $95 to $115 per hour (1099 independent contractor), commensurate with experience and credentials W-2 full-time employment is available as an alternative for candidates who prefer benefits, at an approximate salary of $150,000 to $175,000 plus health, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off Full-time engagement, approximately 2,080 hours annually Relocation and travel support provided (paid as a stipend, not a repayable loan) for qualified mainland candidates Virgin Islands licensure application support provided by CLFC, with licensure fees reimbursed Occurrence-based professional liability (malpractice) coverage arranged for the engagement Multi-year engagement potential aligned with the contract base term and renewal structure Housing assistance or stipend to offset island cost of living Cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) reflecting the U.S. Virgin Islands market Annual continuing education (CME/CEU) allowance and licensure renewal support About CLFC Healthcare and Communications CLF Consultants LLC (DBA: CLFC Healthcare and Communications) is a federal contractor providing healthcare staffing and language access services across U.S. federal, state, local, and territorial agencies. Our network of 500+ healthcare professionals and 200+ interpreters supports nationwide coverage. CLFC is a Self-Certified Small Disadvantaged Business committed to placing qualified professionals with mission-aligned organizations. Equal Opportunity Employer, providing reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with the ADA. Reference: 01CLFCT009.
