Contract-to-Hire · Remote (India / Pakistan / SEA) · Vietnam Relocation Supported
THE THING YOU'D BE BUILDING A COMMUNITY FOR
cricket.city is a cricket game that runs entirely in the browser. No app store, no download, no install. Just a link, and you're playing. That's a deliberate bet: we're going after the hundreds of millions of cricket fans in India and Pakistan and across the diaspora who will tap a link in a group chat but will never download a 200MB app to try something once.
Test launch is Tuesday Oct 27, 2026, at zero paid spend. Everything that happens that week happens because someone shared it. Then a paid test through the BBL window in December, and IPL in March 2027 as the real tentpole.
WHAT YOU'D OWN
You are the entire relationship between this game and the people playing it. Concretely:
- WhatsApp is the main channel, not a side channel. Channels, sticker packs, instant-play share links, match-day rituals timed to real fixtures. If you've grown something real on WhatsApp, that's the single most valuable thing on your CV for this job.
- Creators. Finding cricket YouTubers and player-creators, getting them playing, keeping them playing. We went creator-led over athlete-led on purpose — this is the engine, not a campaign.
- The everyday surfaces. Discord, Reddit, the game's own social. Seeded, moderated, alive on match days.
- Player support. Roughly 30% of the job. Tickets, account problems, the angry ones. You'll write the macros and set the SLAs because nobody else here is going to.
- Telling us what you're hearing. You'll be closer to players than anyone else at the company. That feedback goes straight into the build.
FIRST 90 DAYS
- Weeks 1–3 (pre-launch): WhatsApp Channel live, sticker pack v1 seeded, first 10 creators contacted, support stack stood up before a single ticket arrives.
- Oct 27, launch week: you are the front line. Every share, every complaint, every bug report comes through you.
- Nov–Dec: turn launch-week attention into match-day habit. Get the creator program from ten conversations to a repeatable motion. Have the community ready when the $15k paid test opens in December.
WHO THIS IS RIGHT FOR
Someone who has actually run a game community in India, Pakistan or Southeast Asia and can point to the group, the channel, or the creator roster they built. You know cricket, not as research, as something you follow. You're comfortable being the only person doing this job, because for a while you will be.
WHO THIS IS WRONG FOR
Someone who wants a brand to stand behind, a team to delegate to, or a defined process to inherit. There's no playbook here yet, you're writing it. If you need one, this will be miserable for both of us.
