The Role
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Polysomnographic Technologist independently conducts comprehensive sleep studies and ensures patients receive safe, comfortable, and high-quality care throughout the testing process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing patients for sleep studies and clearly explaining testing procedures
- Establishing patient comfort and safety throughout overnight testing
- Applying and maintaining sensors and recording devices
- Safely operating sophisticated sleep diagnostic equipment
- Monitoring polygraph recordings and audio/visual equipment
- Accurately monitoring, analyzing, and documenting sleep/wake physiology and other physiological events
- Recognizing and documenting clinically relevant events during testing
- Troubleshooting technical issues to maintain high-quality recordings
- Performing comprehensive sleep studies for both pediatric and adult patients
- Educating patients and providing reassurance throughout the testing process
- Maintaining accurate documentation and following established safety and quality standards
- Collaborating with physicians and the sleep medicine team to support accurate diagnosis and treatment
What We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate is a confident, detail-oriented RPSGT who is comfortable working independently on night shifts and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
Required qualifications:
- Current RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) certification
- Current California Polysomnographic Technologist License
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist
- Strong knowledge of polysomnography and sleep-related physiology
- Ability to accurately monitor, analyze, and document physiological data
- Excellent patient communication and education skills
- Strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and quality care
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the clinical team
