Job Summary

We are looking for a Principal product manager to lead the team building out AI Observability and Evaluation features used by developers to measure the accuracy, relevance, performance and safety of artificial intelligence models, agents and RAG applications. You’ll operate with one foot in the factory and one foot in the field, bridging between our customers and our engineering team. You’ll translate the needs of our customers for ensuring their models and agents perform reliably before and during production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform primary research, interviewing end-users and buyers to deeply understand their AI Observability and Evaluation needs and benefits sought.

  • Partner with engineers and technical stakeholders to articulate, scope, and deliver well integrated AI Observability and Evaluation features and product line extensions.

  • Build on Chronosphere’s industry leading observability platform to enable the systemic testing, measuring and benchmarking of AI models, particularly Large Language Models and agentic AI applications.

  • Set KPIs to articulate and measure intended value and impact for customers.

  • Develop comprehensive roadmaps and deliver plans to achieve stated outcomes for customers and the business.

  • Communicate priorities and the roadmap, and align the team around them.

  • Manage the backlog, groom stories, and break down tasks.

  • Lead across teams to ensure cohesive features and workflows across the platform.

  • Coordinate with product marketing on positioning and messaging.

  • Drive clarity.

What you will achieve

In your first 30 days, you’ll dive deep into the market and user base and in-flight development projects. You’ll meet our existing customers, ride along on end-user interviews, and observe stand-ups and other sprint ceremonies. You will quickly establish yourself as the product owner. You’ll spend most of your time on delivery and validation, generating buildable projects for the short-term that align to a high leverage long term strategy.

Within three months, as we charter new projects, you’ll be the product owner from the beginning. You will drive your own research and set KPIs for your area. You’ll seek the input that you need to make highly informed decisions. The team will look to you as the authority on the customers and the feature set.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a product manager, with experience working on an enterprise software product.

  • 3+ years working with Machine Learning and Foundational Model products and platforms.

  • Working experience with the basic quality metrics of applied use of Large Language Models, including a foundational understanding of entropy, cross entropy and perplexity.

  • Good understanding of AI Observability and Evaluation methodolgies including functional correctness, similarity measurements, AI as a judge, cross model comparison, …

  • Experience with the major models and agent platforms.

  • A track record of delivering software with agile processes and tight feedback loops.

  • Experience in building and operating software as a service.

  • An obsession with getting the little details right.

  • No fear of diving deep into the world of cloud native monitoring.
