Description: Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal Technical Editor / Writer to join our team of qualified individuals. This position is at our Rancho Carmel facility in San Diego, CA. This position is fully onsite; remote work is not available. The selected candidate will support a wide array of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of technical publications for a large defense program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Editing plans, technical reports, test procedures, statements of work, user manuals, operation manuals, requirement specifications, validation documents, and proposal volumes. Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure clear and accurate technical documentation. Collaborating with Configuration Management and Quality Mission Assurance for document publication and delivery. Capturing meeting minutes and action items for technical exchange meetings (TEMs) and design reviews. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree with 5 years of related experience OR a Masters degree with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD with 1 year of related experience Current Government Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance Experience developing and maintaining program plans and process documents, and experience working with SMEs to improve and clarify technical documentation. Excellent technical writing and editing skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency of both technical information and documentation layout. Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint plus Adobe Acrobat. Well-organized, detailed-oriented self-starter who enjoys challenges and works well in teams and independently. Exceptional organizational skills to include the ability to multitask; must be focused on program’s documentation requirements and deadlines. Outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management, as well as the customer. Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of contractual requirements [SOWs and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)] and Configuration Management processes. Understanding of program Security Classification Guides (SCGs) to determine document portion markings. Proposal experience, such as authoring Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and editing Technical Volumes. Experience using Agile framework and Jira best practices. Primary Level Salary Range: $85,600.00 - $128,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
