NEW WEST FOODS PROCUREMENT MANAGER ROLE

ABOUT NEW WEST FOODS

Since 1988, New West Foods has grown from a family seafood business into a broadline Foodservice distributor serving Western Australia. Its team supports cafés, restaurants, caterers, schools, hospitals and stadiums, helping keep kitchens running and communities fed.

New West employs 82 people and has grown fourfold over the past decade. In 2026, it was named Australian Foodservice Distributor of the Year and WA Metro Foodservice Distributor of the Year at the FSAA National Awards of Excellence.

Core Element is partnering with New West Foods to appoint its next Procurement Manager.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager, the Procurement Manager leads a team of four across purchasing, inventory and supply chain, overseeing close to 200 suppliers and approximately 6,000 products. The remit spans strategic sourcing, supplier partnerships and stronger commercial returns, alongside practical involvement in the day-to-day business.

The priorities are to:

  • Build supplier partnerships through joint business plans and clear performance expectations.
  • Negotiate supply agreements, trading terms and supplier investment that improve commercial returns.
  • Develop the product range and identify opportunities for category growth.
  • Improve supply reliability, stock performance and margins, including reducing slow-moving and obsolete stock.
  • Coach and develop your team, working closely with sales, warehouse and finance.
  • Maintain procurement discipline, food safety and compliance standards.

A structured handover and ongoing mentoring from the General Manager provide a clear introduction to the business and its supplier network. This is an opportunity to contribute to a growing family business proud of its people and culture.

The role is primarily office-based with a small interstate travel requirement. A competitive remuneration package is on offer and an incentive (linked to performance) may also be included. Sponsorship may be considered for the right candidate.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This hands-on role will suit an experienced procurement and supply chain leader with at least five years’ experience and a proven ability to develop and lead a high performing team. Strong commercial judgement, confident negotiation skills and the ability to turn supplier relationships into measurable value are essential. Experience across Foodservice, FMCG, food manufacturing, ingredients, fresh produce or meat industries will be highly regarded.

You’ll be a credible and commercially minded partner to our suppliers, building relationships based on trust, accountability and mutual value. We’re looking for someone who is practical, proactive and follows through. You will be able to identify opportunities, negotiate effectively and turn these opportunities into results.

You’ll also play a key role across the broader business, working collaboratively with Sales, Warehouse and Finance to solve problems, manage supply pressures and make decisions that support both our customers and our commercial business goals
