Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At Stegra, we’re building an impact-driven, sustainable company - and we need a diverse, inclusive team to make it happen.
If you share our passion but don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the perfect fit for this role, or another as we grow.
At Stegra, we’re not just building a plant, we’re proving that sustainable industry is possible. And to do that, we need people like you.
Join a team where safety comes first. Where we support each other, learn as we go, and make space for everyone to grow and contribute. This is your chance to be part of something big - while being closer to nature and leading a balanced, purposeful life.
What you’ll do
Right now, we are looking for a Production Manager – Pickling Line and Tandem Cold Mill (PLTCM) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, leading, and operating the PLTCM area – from installation and team setup through production launch and stable operations.
You will lead safety, people, performance, and budget, ensuring safe, stable, and high-quality production. As Production Manager, you will play a key role in building a strong safety culture, developing effective ways of working, and driving continuous improvement across the department.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead the development and implementation of the PLTCM area, ensuring operational readiness ahead of production launch.
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing and inclusive team, promoting engagement, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Establish and maintain a strong safety culture in line with Swedish legislation, applicable standards, and Stegra’s HSEQ requirements.
Realise and improve operational performance on safety, environment, quality, production and budget.
Develop efficient ways of working and drive lean and continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
Contribute to investment planning and the continued development of equipment, processes, and production capabilities.
Be a visible leader on the shop floor, supporting hands-on problem solving and close collaboration with the team.
Ensure effective communication and coordination across shifts and with other functions and production areas.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for an experienced production leader who combines strong technical understanding with the ability to build teams and operations in a fast-moving industrial environment.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, production technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Extensive leadership experience within heavy industry, preferably within the steel industry and flat steel production.
Experience from cold rolling operations and relevant steel finishing processes.
Strong understanding of process control, production optimization, safety, and operational performance.
Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience working with production-related systems for areas such as maintenance, purchasing, performance, and reporting.
Proven experience with SMS equipment is essential for this role.
You have solid experience in commissioning, which is essential for success in this role.
Relevant occupational health and safety or lean production certifications are considered an advantage.
Professional proficiency in English. Swedish is an advantage but not a requirement.

This is Stegra
Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.
By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.
Our Boden Site
Our Boden site is located just west of Boden City, right in the heart of a growing green industrial hub in Northern Sweden. It’s where we’re building one of the world’s most modern, sustainable steel plants—designed with safety, efficiency, and people in mind. With just a 10-minute commute from town, you'll be close to both cutting-edge technology and the everyday convenience of living near nature, schools, and community life.
