Project Engineer - Ballast

A major transport infrastructure project (valued at more than $1 billion) is underway across South East Queensland, delivering complex rail, station and civil works. Having won numerous major projects in Queensland in the past 12 months, the head contractor is seeking a Project Engineer - Ballast to lead engineering and package control for ballast supply, logistics, placement, profiling and acceptance across track works.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan ballast sourcing, testing, delivery, stockpiling, handling and placement to meet the track sequence
• Verify formation, drainage, capping and access readiness before ballast placement
• Coordinate survey and tolerance control for ballast depth, profile, alignment and interfaces
• Monitor production rates, material reconciliation, haulage performance and contamination controls
• Compile lot-based inspection, test, survey and material-conformance records for acceptance

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in civil, construction or railway engineering
• 5-8 years' contractor delivery experience including track formation, earthworks, quarry materials or rail infrastructure
• Current construction induction card and valid driver's licence
• Ability to obtain project-specific rail, site and medical competencies
• Contractor-side experience with work packs, RFIs, ITPs, subcontractor coordination and progress measurement

Australian experience is required.
