What you’ll be doing:

As a Project Leader - Construction Engineering you will lead a team of Designers, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality engineering support to the build programme. Representing Construction Engineering and the wider Engineering Design teams. You will be accountable for technical integrity, team performance, workload management, and schedule adherence, whilst fostering strong collaboration across Design, Production, Supply Chain, and Commissioning teams.

You will provide leadership and direction in resolving build issues and engineering challenges, enabling delivery at pace across the submarine build programmes, including specialist areas such as CMC and Nuclear systems.

Core duties:

• Supervise/co-ordinate the daily activities of a construction engineering design team, working with a high degree of technical autonomy
• Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinating work activities with other team leaders
• Apply knowledge and experience to systems and processes to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems of a recurring nature, based on practice and precedence
• Provide input to employee performance evaluations and coach team member performance whilst identifying training and development requirements and skills gaps of team members
• Lead collaborative work to review and propose improvements to processes

Essential Skills:

• Strong understanding of the mechanical pipe and/or HVAC design discipline including a Good knowledge of engineering standards, governance, processes, and design change control
• Ability to communicate & exchange ideas effectively both verbally and in writing collaborating with others to achieve goals & objectives
• People management, motivation, performance coaching, performance management
• Contributes to the analysis on complex technical problems to create solutions where precedent may not exist

• HNC/HND and/or recognised engineering apprenticeship.

The Construction Engineering Team:

We are a delivery-focused engineering team that bridges the gap between Design and Build. Whether providing technical solutions directly or coordinating the right stakeholders to resolve complex issues. We take ownership of driving engineering challenges through to completion and supporting successful programme delivery. As a Project Leader you will report to and support your Engineering Manager in delivering Designer tasks / outputs in line with programme demands such as 2D and 3D routes in the integrated CAD model.
