Project Manager – Superyacht Paint Refits

Location: Valencia / Sagunto, Spain

Sector: Superyacht Refit and Finishing

Travel: Spain and wider Mediterranean as required

The Opportunity

An established superyacht finishing specialist is expanding its presence in Spain and is looking for a Project Manager to support the delivery of major paint refit and repair projects.

The company has operated within the superyacht market for approximately 20 years and is now entering a significant growth phase, developing new regional operations and securing projects directly with leading yachts, shipyards and owner representatives.

The successful candidate will initially support the Senior Project Manager on large superyacht projects in Spain, with the opportunity to take increasing ownership of projects as the Spanish operation develops.

This is a site-based role for a proactive Project Manager who can bring structure, pace and accountability to complex refit programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning and delivery of superyacht paint refit and repair projects.
  • Coordinate project schedules, labour, subcontractors, materials and equipment.
  • Monitor progress against agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.
  • Keep projects moving by identifying delays, risks and operational issues early.
  • Liaise with captains, owners’ representatives, shipyard project managers, paint manufacturers and subcontractors.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Lead and motivate on-site teams, maintaining productivity and accountability.
  • Manage project variations, reporting and commercial documentation.
  • Monitor environmental and application conditions in line with manufacturer requirements.
  • Support quality-control inspections, snagging and final project sign-off.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management.
  • Travel to other European project locations when required.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Project Manager from a superyacht, shipyard, marine refit or similarly complex technical-project environment.

Strong project management capability is more important than being a paint specialist. Paint, coatings or finishing experience would be advantageous, but the company can provide industry-specific support to someone with the right management background and approach.

You should be confident taking ownership, making decisions and driving projects forward without needing constant direction.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience managing complex technical, marine or shipyard projects.
  • Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple contractors, teams and stakeholders.
  • Confident communication with clients, captains, owners’ representatives and senior management.
  • Ability to manage project risks, variations, deadlines and operational challenges.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proactive, self-starting approach.
  • Ability to remain organised and composed in a fast-moving refit environment.
  • Professional Spanish and English communication skills.
  • Legal right to live and work in Spain or the European Union.
  • Willingness to travel when projects require it.

Desirable Experience

  • Superyacht refit or new-build experience.
  • Shipyard project management experience.
  • Paint, coatings or yacht-finishing knowledge.
  • Experience managing projects involving yachts over 80 metres.
  • Familiarity with paint-manufacturer specifications, environmental controls and quality procedures.
  • Existing knowledge of the Spanish or Mediterranean superyacht market.

Location and Travel

The role will be based primarily in the Valencia / Sagunto area, supporting the development of the company’s Spanish operation.

Some travel may be required for projects elsewhere in Spain and across the Mediterranean. When working away from the agreed home base, project-related travel and accommodation will be provided.

Relocation assistance may also be considered for the right candidate.

Package

A competitive salary and project-related package will be offered, based on the candidate’s experience and suitability.

The package may include:

  • Accommodation when working away from the home base.
  • Project-related travel expenses.
  • Agreed daily expenses while working away.
  • Initial relocation support where required.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join an established specialist business during an important stage of international growth.

You will work on major superyacht projects, help establish the company’s Spanish operation and have the opportunity to develop into a leading figure within the regional project-management team.
