Quant Platform/Infrastructure Engineer (Linux Systems)

Our client is a quantitative hedge fund focused on systematic investment strategies and data-driven research. Technology plays a central role in the business, with infrastructure, data platforms, and research systems forming the foundation on which researchers and developers build, test, and deploy investment strategies.

You will work directly alongside quantitative researchers and engineers to support and modernise the firm's research and production platforms.

We Are Seeking: Quantitative Platform / Infrastructure Engineer

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on infrastructure, production systems, databases, and data platforms.

The successful candidate will take ownership of business-critical systems while helping modernise the platform through improved automation, deployment practices, containerisation, and platform tooling.

Experience supporting quantitative research platforms, data-intensive environments, trading firms, hedge funds, or other performance-sensitive environments is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve Linux-based production infrastructure
• Manage system reliability, performance, monitoring, security, and upgrades
• Troubleshoot issues across infrastructure, applications, databases, and data pipelines
• Operate and optimise databases including MariaDB/MS SQL, MongoDB, and Redis
• Support Airflow workflows and Python-based data processing jobs
• Improve CI/CD processes, deployment workflows, and platform automation
• Contribute to containerisation initiatives and platform modernisation
• Support research environments and distributed compute capabilities

Requirements

• Strong Linux systems engineering experience (Red Hat or similar)
• Strong Python development and automation skills
• Good understanding of relational databases and SQL
• Experience troubleshooting production systems and data pipelines
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of critical infrastructure
• Strong problem-solving skills and operational mindset

Highly Relevant Experience

• Airflow or workflow orchestration platforms
• CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman, etc.)
• MongoDB, Redis, or similar database technologies
• Distributed computing, HPC, or large-scale compute environments
• Quantitative research platforms or backtesting infrastructure
• Internal developer platforms and tooling
