Show job description

We are looking for a Quantitative Analyst to help improve pricing, liquidity, and execution through rigorous research and data analysis.

You will investigate market behaviour, analyse trading activity, and develop models that support better execution and risk decisions. The role combines quantitative research with practical work on market data and trading infrastructure, with a particular focus on MetaTrader 5.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse tick data, quotes, orders, and executions to understand liquidity conditions and trading behaviour.
  • Develop execution quality analytics covering slippage, spreads, fill rates, rejection rates, latency, and post-trade price movements.
  • Evaluate liquidity provider performance across instruments, trading sessions, order sizes, and market conditions.
  • Research improvements to pricing, liquidity aggregation, and order routing.
  • Build statistical models to assess short-term price dynamics, volatility, liquidity, and execution costs.
  • Analyse trading flows and exposures to support risk monitoring and hedging decisions.
  • Design reproducible experiments and validate findings through historical analysis, out-of-sample testing, and controlled live evaluation.
  • Identify data quality issues, timestamp inconsistencies, and differences between simulated and actual execution.
  • Develop research tools in Python and use MQL5 where platform-specific implementation or testing is required.
  • Work with trading, risk, and engineering colleagues to implement and monitor improvements.

Requirements

  • Strong foundations in probability, statistics, linear algebra, and quantitative reasoning.
  • Proficiency in Python, including tools such as pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
  • Experience using SQL to investigate and process trading or other event-based datasets.
  • Practical knowledge of MetaTrader 5, including order lifecycles, execution modes, symbol specifications, and trading costs.
  • Working knowledge of MQL5 and the ability to develop or review analytical tools, scripts, and Expert Advisors.
  • Understanding of market microstructure, transaction costs, and liquidity.
  • Experience with time series analysis, statistical modelling, and robust validation methods.
  • Clear communication, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to challenge assumptions using evidence.

A degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, engineering, or a related quantitative discipline — or equivalent practical experience — is relevant to this role.

Additional experience that would be valuable

  • Institutional FX or CFD liquidity, brokerage analytics, or electronic market making.
  • MetaTrader 5 server-side data, APIs, bridges, or liquidity aggregation systems.
  • FIX protocol and execution or matching engine data.
  • Transaction cost analysis, markout analysis, and liquidity provider evaluation.
  • Machine learning applied to financial data, with careful attention to overfitting and changing market conditions.
