Quantitative Researcher - Proprietary Trading Firm

About BlueWalker Capital

BlueWalker Capital is a proprietary trading firm developing systematic and quantitative trading strategies native to prediction markets.

We log billions of trades and order book ticks per day, isolate market pairs from hundreds of millions of combinations, and continuously monitor for a range of market inefficiencies we execute on.

We trade algorithmically using our own balance sheet, generating daily returns exceeding 1% with the capacity to rotate hundreds of thousands of euros in daily volume.

Our mission is to become the leading hedge fund in this emerging asset class, delivering investment returns while making prediction markets efficient as the world's most accurate source of truth.

Join us as we expand our footprint across global capital markets and put BlueWalker Capital on the map of excellence.

About the Role

We are a small trading team, which means your responsibilities scale rapidly and your impact is clear and foundational. You will work across the full data set and models stack, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of data and signals that trigger hundreds of thousands of euros in daily trade volume.

Responsibilities

  • Build fair-value, spread, and fill-probability models to continuously price and underwrite dynamic proprietary datasets.
  • Research and develop market-making strategies across prediction-market order books.
  • Build realistic backtests that model fees, latency, partial fills, cancellations, and queue position.
  • Work with the engineering team to deploy strategies and ensure signals are correctly used.

Who we are looking for

Hard Skills

  • 2+ years of hands-on systematic trading experience.
  • A background in statistics, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a quantitative field.
  • Understanding of market microstructure, queue position, and fill-probability modeling.
  • Experience with predictive modeling, feature engineering, and model validation.
  • Experience designing quoting models under inventory and adverse-selection risk.
  • Ability to design and write production-grade systems without LLMs, while being proficient and deeply integrated with AI tools to maximize development velocity.

Soft Skills

  • Communicate clearly in English, in writing and in discussion.
  • Take ownership, move quickly, and make sound decisions with incomplete information.
  • Apply intellectual rigour, challenge assumptions, and support decisions with evidence.
  • Thrive in ambiguity and build pragmatic solutions from first principles.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience sourcing and aggregating fragmented, "hard-to-find" data to build unique models.
  • Capacity to decode non-obvious factors driving developments across asset classes to develop forecasts as a function of domain-specific signals.
  • Ability to translate qualitative insights and unstructured information into statistically significant quantitative metrics.

What it’s like here

  • Fast paced environment.
  • We value strong integrity.
  • We’re direct and honest with each other.
  • 5 days a week, in person. Full immersion.
  • Project ownership and autonomy, flat company structure.
  • We value people who take initiative and are able to figure things out.

Company culture is informal, non-hierarchical, ambitious, collaborative and entrepreneurial.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, tailored to ability and experience.
  • Relocation support to Andorra.
