Quantitative Trader | Crypto Options

BlockTech is hiring a Quantitative Trader to join its options trading team in Amsterdam. In this role, you'll take ownership of our trading systems and bring new direction to the desk.

We trade crypto derivatives and spot markets across global venues, 24/7. Our traders don't just watch the systems. They own them end-to-end.

About BlockTech

BlockTech is an algorithmic trading firm headquartered in Amsterdam, with a second office in Singapore. We specialize in market making and trade cryptocurrency derivatives and spot markets globally, using our own capital. We're growing fast and expanding into new markets.

Our traders work side by side with quantitative researchers and engineers. Research, engineering, and trading happen a few meters apart, so the path from a market read to live PnL is short.

What will you do?

You'll own the systems that trade our capital, from day-to-day operation to the strategies that come next. As a senior trader, you'll also use what you've learned elsewhere to shape where the desk goes.

You will:

• Own the systems. Monitor, operate, and tune our automated trading systems in live markets.

• Manage the risk. Manage positions and risk, adjusting pricing and parameters as market behaviour shifts.

• Set new directions. Bring new ideas to the desk, drawing on your previous experience.

• Build new strategies. Develop and deploy new strategies together with quantitative researchers and engineers.

• Spot what’s next. Identify and research new business opportunities as markets change.

What we're looking for

You'll need:

• A strong academic background in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, statistics, or computer science.

• 3+ years of quantitative trading experience.

• Proficiency in Python, with excellent numerical and algorithmic skills.

• Focus and sound judgment behind the screen when markets get busy.

Bonus points for:

• Experience at a proprietary trading firm or hedge fund, particularly with mid-frequency strategies, prediction markets or DeFi.

You don't need: crypto experience. If you've successfully traded derivatives on other asset classes and want to bring that experience to BlockTech, we want to hear from you.

Pay, location, and relocation

• Compensation: a competitive base salary plus a very attractive performance bonus based on individual and company results.

• Trading fund: strong performers get the opportunity to buy into the trading fund.

• Location: On-site on our trading floor in Amsterdam

• Visa: BlockTech sponsors the Dutch highly skilled migrant visa.

• Relocation: All-in relocation package and Dutch classes for international hires. Eligible hires may qualify for the 30% ruling.
