About the Role

The role manages an entire region of engineers and oversees multiple manufacturing facilities. You'll be the highest level engineering position within the region, responsible for setting strategic vision, managing a team of direct reports, and ensuring operations run smoothly across geographically dispersed locations. The position requires leading remotely, communicating effectively across sites, and having a deep understanding of how raw materials become finished products. You'll need to comprehend which equipment controls throughput, quality, energy use and emissions, and where failures and bottlenecks typically occur in a manufacturing environment. Capital projects significantly affect operations and production, and you'll need a safety and maintenance-focused mindset. We are willing to relocate someone for this role. Responsibilities

  • Manages capital projects from planning through implementation.
  • Designs, installs, and implements new and existing equipment to improve operating efficiency and support modernization goals.
  • Manages and coordinates validation, start-up, and commissioning requirements for new projects.
  • Works closely with plant management and maintenance personnel to ensure operating efficiency. This includes developing and overseeing equipment/system trials using process improvement methodology.
  • Utilizes industry best practices in problem solving, project management, and project execution.
  • Manages the region environmental engineering group with responsibility for all environmental issues, including permits, audits, and administration for the region.
  • Demonstrates a commitment the process of continuous improvement. Identifies and responds actively to the needs of all customers and is open and responsive to change.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical), or equivalent work experience in related job function.


Required Skills

  • More than five (5) years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working as a Process Engineer in an industry such as paper, wood, cement, or similar that brings processing of raw materials into a finished product.
  • Working knowledge of process improvement concepts, data analysis, diagnostic tools, and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to participate on and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management experience, particularly of complex projects.
