The Role As an Operating Room RN in UVA Health's Outpatient Surgery Center, you will provide perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment that performs approximately 50-60 cases each day . Located in the Battle Building directly across from UVA Medical Center, this 12-operating-room facility provides exceptional exposure to a diverse surgical population while maintaining the efficiency and patient-centered focus of an outpatient setting. We are looking for nurses with experience in one or more of the following specialty areas: General Surgery Gynecology (GYN) Urology Plastic Surgery ENT Orthopedics Robotic Surgery In this role, you will: Function in both scrub and circulating nurse roles across perioperative services. Deliver safe, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical experience. Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary care teams. Support a high-volume ambulatory surgery program across multiple specialty service lines. Participate in cross-training opportunities designed to expand your clinical expertise and versatility. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. Experience: 1 year of relevant experience. Preferred Experience: · Previous Operating Room nursing experience · Experience in multiple surgical specialties · Scrub and circulate experience preferred Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
