Job Description REGISTERED NURSES-ACUTE CARE HOSPITAL-MED/SURG, PSYCH, ICU, ER, GERIATRICS JOB REQUIREMENTS A) QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited Bachelor Nursing Program Current BCLS certificate Minimum Work Experience Current registration 2-3 years post-graduate experience and excellent clinical skills Required Registration · Membership with the local Nurses Association is encouraged. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Critical thinking skills Effective communication skills – written and verbal Able to assess, plan implement and evaluate care Able to manage a group of patients and organize work and priorities Able to display Hospital values and work as an effective team member Able to cope with the physical demands of the work Displays up to date knowledge of nursing practice Demonstrates respect for patient confidentiality and dignity Displays a positive attitude towards diversity Prepared to work flexibly across wards and work areas Able to act as a preceptor and support others to develop skills and knowledge Displays clinical skills and competencies for specialty area The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care utilizing the nursing process. The RN provides clinical leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient care settings. The RN has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidenced based nursing practice. The RN is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the plan of care to achieve patient/client outcomes. As a member of a collaborative care team works with other disciplines to co-ordinate care to achieve patient/family outcomes. The RN supports the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship. The RN contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the service/unit, coordination of patient care, staffing allocation and/or the use of other resources as required. In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, the RN is also responsible for delegation to and supervision of non-professional and support staff. The RN accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually demonstrating effective general nursing competencies and specialist competencies if working in a specialty area. This is achieved through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, continuous quality activities, and annual competency assessment, general for area specific. The RN practices according to the Nursing Board’s Code of Ethics, Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses, Specialty standards as applicable, and the Policies and Procedures of the Hospital Board. The RN is responsible and accountable for his/her nursing practice and conduct as defined by the Nursing Board and for ensuring that his/her registration is current and valid. A) PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assessment Planning Intervention Evaluation Advocacy Professional Development and Accountability Professional Leadership, Education & Research B) OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES All Employees will be held accountable for meeting or exceeding critical functions 1-7 below . Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times Displays a positive attitude that contributes to the hospital’s Customer Service Excellence and Diversity Programs Adheres to Organization and Departmental Service Standards. Adheres to organizational policies and procedures. Demonstrates commitment to Standards of Behaviour for Employees. Executes proper hand-washing techniques. Adheres to organization and department specific safety standards and guidelines. Requirements Bachelors Degree in Nursing Minimum 2-3 years post-graduate RN experience Current BCLS Other certifications depending on unit 2 and 3 year contracts available based on circumstances NO NCLEX REQUIRED NO CGFNS REQUIRED Benefits $3000 RELOCATION ALLOWANCE Housing assistance x 3 months upon arrival Major Medical Health Insurance (options include Private Doctors Home/Office Visits,vision, dental) Life Insurance (one times annual salary) - no contributions by employee 18 Days paid vacation annually up to 5 years employment (eligible after 6 months continuous employment) 30 Days paid sick leave annually up to 2 years employment (eligible after 3 months continuous employment) Educational Assistance, upon completion of one (1) year's employment. Thereafter eligible to apply to attend Seminars, Conferences etc. every 18 months.
