Are you an experienced network engineer with deep expertise in Juniper technologies and large-scale service provider networks?
We're looking for a Resident Engineer to provide hands-on technical support and operational guidance for complex network environments. In this customer-facing role, you'll work closely with network engineering, architecture, and operations teams to troubleshoot critical issues, improve network stability, and support major infrastructure upgrades.
You'll leverage your expertise across Juniper platforms and JUNOS to resolve complex technical challenges, guide network evolution, and help ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical networks.
If you enjoy solving complex networking challenges, collaborating with engineering teams, and working hands-on with Juniper technologies, this could be a great opportunity.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical support: Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues across large-scale IP/MPLS environments.
- Manage critical incidents: Lead technical escalations, drive Juniper JTAC cases to resolution, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support network evolution: Contribute to network design improvements, capacity planning, technology adoption, and infrastructure expansion.
- Lead upgrades and migrations: Support major network upgrades, maintenance windows, lab testing, and software and hardware integration before production deployment.
- Improve network reliability: Assess network health, develop diagnostic procedures, and review operational documentation to identify potential risks.
- Collaborate with customers: Work closely with engineering and operations teams, lead technical workshops, and communicate recommendations to technical and leadership stakeholders.
- Drive automation: Develop Python-based scripts and automation solutions to improve configuration validation, health checks, provisioning, and troubleshooting.
- Share technical expertise: Train customer teams on Juniper platforms, operational best practices, and network management procedures.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting large-scale service provider or MSO networks.
- Strong expertise with Juniper JUNOS CLI and hands-on experience with Juniper MX, QFX, EX, ACX, and PTX platforms.
- Experience supporting major network upgrades, transformations, or infrastructure expansions.
- Strong understanding of service provider networking technologies, including:
- TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, and MPLS
- Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS
- MPLS-TE, RSVP, and LDP
- BGP routing policies and peering
- VPN technologies: L3VPN, VPLS, and MVPN
- Ethernet switching, 802.1Q, QoS, and Class of Service
- Hands-on scripting experience with Python and Juniper PyEZ.
- Ability to develop automation solutions that integrate with existing network operations workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues during high-pressure incidents.
- A collaborative, customer-focused approach and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions.
Preferred Certifications: Juniper JNCIS, JNCIP, or JNCIE; Cisco CCNP or CCIE.
