🚀 Senior Robotics Controls Engineer (Staff) | San Francisco | $170k–$300k + Equity
I’m working with a fast-growing robotics company building autonomous systems for large-scale industrial environments, including mining and transport.
They’re looking for a Senior Robotics Controls Engineer to work on the control stack for autonomous heavy vehicles operating in complex real-world environments.
This is a genuinely hands-on robotics role. You’ll be working on areas including:
• Localization and state estimation
• Lateral and longitudinal vehicle control
• Navigation and path following
• Model Predictive Control (MPC)
• Sensor fusion and Kalman filtering
• Vehicle dynamics and kinematics
• Simulation, log analysis and field testing
• Production Python and C++
The strongest candidates will have experience deploying controls or localization software onto real autonomous vehicles or robots, rather than purely simulation or academic work.
Experience with ROS, Linux, Python and MPC is particularly relevant.
Backgrounds in any of the following would be especially interesting:
• Autonomous vehicles
• Autonomous mining
• Heavy equipment / off-highway vehicles
• Mobile robotics
• Self-driving trucks
• Industrial autonomy
📍 San Francisco – 5 days onsite
💰 $170k–$300k base + equity
✈️ Some travel to deployment/customer sites
🌎 Visa sponsorship and relocation support available
Ideally you’ll have a BS, MS or PhD in Robotics, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or a related controls discipline, with 3+ years of professional experience.
If you’ve worked on controls, localization or navigation systems that have actually been deployed onto autonomous machines, I’d be keen to speak.
