Robotics Engineering Lead

ElitePath Consulting is partnering with a technology and electronics manufacturer to hire a Robotics Engineering Lead for its Santa Rosa, CA facility.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who can take manufacturing automation from concept through production. You’ll identify high-value automation opportunities and personally design, program, integrate, commission, and scale solutions involving collaborative robots (cobots), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), machine vision, sensors, grippers, and factory automation systems.

What You’ll Do

• Design, program, integrate, and commission cobot cells for assembly, material handling, machine tending, inspection, and testing.
• Deploy AMRs for factory material movement, including route planning, fleet coordination, and workstation hand-offs.
• Lead projects from requirements and concept design through simulation, build, FAT/SAT, validation, and production hand-off.
• Integrate robots with 2D/3D vision, sensors, end-effectors, grippers, and existing production equipment.
• Evaluate robotics technologies and integration partners, run pilots, and scale successful solutions.
• Establish technical standards and mentor engineers and technicians while remaining highly hands-on.
• Partner with safety teams on risk assessments and compliance before systems go live.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of industrial automation or robotics experience deploying systems in live manufacturing/production environments.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent industry research experience.
• Strong combination of software and mechanical engineering capabilities.
• Hands-on experience programming and integrating collaborative robots, such as Universal Robots or equivalent platforms.
• Experience with AMRs and factory-floor material-handling automation.
• Experience with cobot simulation/offline programming tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor others while remaining involved in execution.

Nice to have: ROS/ROS 2, RobotStudio, RoboDK, machine vision, force/torque control, AMR fleet management, CAD, semiconductor/electronics manufacturing experience, and familiarity with robotic safety standards such as ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066.
