Our client is a well established timber manufacturer supplying roof trusses and timber structures to the construction industry across Northern Ireland and beyond. Due to continued growth they are recruiting a Roof Truss Designer to join their design office in Co. Armagh.

The role:

You will design roof trusses and timber roof structures using industry standard truss design software, working from architects' drawings and site measurements to produce accurate layouts, cutting lists and production drawings. You will liaise with customers, site teams and the factory floor to make sure designs are buildable, compliant and delivered on time.

Main duties:

• Produce roof truss and timber frame designs and layouts to current building regulations and structural standards
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications
• Prepare quotations, cutting lists and production information for the factory
• Check designs for accuracy, loadings and compliance before release
• Liaise with customers, builders, architects and engineers to resolve design queries
• Support the sales and production teams with technical input

What we are looking for:

• A degree, HND or equivalent in civil or structural engineering, architectural technology, construction or a related discipline
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn truss design software quickly (experience with MiTek, Wolf or Pamir an advantage)
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings
• Good numeracy and attention to detail
• Clear written and spoken English and a confident manner with customers
• Experience in timber engineering, roof trusses or the construction industry is desirable but full training will be given to the right candidate
