Why join a Linnaeus Rotating Internship?

Joining a Rotating Internship at Linnaeus means stepping into a structured, supportive, and inspiring environment where your development is the priority. You’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside world renowned Specialists whilst rotating across a range of disciplines including:

  • Internal medicine

As a Linnaeus Rotating Intern, you’ll be part of a vibrant, collaborative community of more than 100 Rotating Interns and over 100 residents, across the largest network of referral hospitals in the UK. With clear pathways into residencies, advanced general practice or academia, and a strong record of progression – over the last 2 years 70% of our Interns who wanted to specialise went on to Discipline Specific Internships or Residences.

What does a Linnaeus Rotating Internship offer?

We’re passionate about enabling you to reach your potential. Wherever your ambitions take you, you’ll benefit from:

  • A competitive salary – £38,213 per year.
  • Exceptional clinical experience – Direct access to our multi-disciplinary Specialist teams, with hands-on involvement in diagnostics, surgery, and patient care from day one.
  • Dedicated support – 1:1 mentoring with trained mentors, regular check-ins with your Internship Director and the Linnaeus Internships Lead, and a comprehensive induction to set you up for success.
  • Tailored teaching programme – Small-group seminars, weekly clinical teaching, monthly film reading sessions, clinical reasoning rounds, ongoing professional skills and wellbeing workshops, and a year-long research training course.
  • Research opportunities – Full support to conduct clinical research, with many interns presenting at international conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Emergency care training – RECOVER online certification in both basic and advanced life support.
  • Career development support – Dedicated workshops on CV writing, interview techniques, and long-term career planning.
  • Unrivalled network – Over 130 Specialist pathway internship and residency posts across the largest Specialist-led referral group in the UK.
  • Primary care pathways – Opportunities to pursue advanced roles within our network of outstanding primary care practices.
  • CertAVP - All of our Rotating Interns are enrolled onto the CertAVP.

We are looking for Vets who:

  • Are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Have at least 1–2 years of experience in a small animal practice
  • Have completed their RCVS Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP) or are exempt from the RCVS VetGDP - We will not be able to accept your application if you have not completed your RCVS VetGDP or are not close to completion or are not exempt.

If you require a visa to work in the UK, this is a role that we would consider sponsorship for subject to eligibility requirements being met.

You must be able to join the team at DWR in March 2027.
