Ally and Your Career
Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that’s more than some cliché people put on job postings. We love this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

The Senior Accountant position will play a critical role in the calculation of the company’s regulatory capital position in a dynamic regulatory environment and preparation of related regulatory, SEC, and other public-facing reporting. Under general supervision, the position will be primarily focused on the preparation and analysis of these reports to ensure accurate and timely filings, maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting, and assist business partners in understanding reporting requirements. The role provides the opportunity to gain exposure to business line partners and other stakeholders and develop a deep understanding of how regulatory requirements guide Ally's business decisions. The position requires an individual with relevant accounting and reporting experience who is able to leverage prior experience to develop fresh ideas and concepts. This position reports to an External Reporting Director and will interact closely with SEC Reporting and Regulatory Reporting and support internal reporting prepared for C-level executives within the organization.

  • Coordinate with the Capital Planning function of Ally’s Treasury team on regulatory capital matters and assist with their reporting related to Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) as needed
  • Track and analyze rulemaking activities related to regulatory capital and assist with the interpretation and application of new guidance and reporting requirements
  • Assist with strategic initiatives within the regulatory capital space including adoption of new rules, advancing process automation, leveraging new capabilities within Nasdaq AxiomSL ControllerView, and driving other efficiencies and process improvements
  • Support effective design/implementation and operation of internal controls to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper presentation of regulatory reports and other reporting
  • Assist business line partners in their understanding of reporting requirements and regulatory capital considerations when new requirements or business initiatives arise
  • Assist SEC Reporting and Capital Planning teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of capital-related information
  • Review and maintain the relevant distribution lists and policies and procedures documents for assigned schedules and processes
