Senior Automotive Electrical & Diagnostics Specialist

ABMTEK LIMITED is hiring a Senior Automotive Electrical & Diagnostics Specialist for a permanent, full-time, on-site role in Abuja, Nigeria.

This is a senior hands-on position for a specialist who can diagnose the root cause of complex electrical and electronic faults in modern vehicles, carry out ECU and control-module coding and programming, and work independently across European and Japanese brands. The successful candidate will also help raise workshop diagnostic standards and transfer knowledge to other technicians.

Key responsibilities
• Diagnose complex electrical, electronic and control-module faults using a structured, evidence-based process.
• Perform ECU coding, programming, configuration, adaptation, calibration and relearning procedures using approved methods.
• Diagnose CAN/LIN communication faults, module-network failures, parasitic drains, intermittent faults, sensor and actuator issues, and wiring problems.
• Use wiring diagrams, live data, multimeters, oscilloscopes and professional diagnostic platforms to confirm root causes before recommending parts or repairs.
• Work confidently on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Toyota and Honda vehicles; experience with other modern brands is welcome.
• Produce clear diagnostic reports covering the complaint, tests performed, findings, root cause, repair recommendation and post-repair verification.
• Follow safe procedures that protect vehicle modules, customer data and workshop equipment.
• Support and mentor other technicians in advanced diagnostics and modern vehicle electronics.

Required qualifications and experience
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience in advanced automotive electrical and electronic diagnostics.
• Proven ability to solve difficult faults independently rather than relying on code clearing or parts replacement.
• Practical experience with ECU/module coding, programming, adaptation and configuration.
• Strong knowledge of CAN/LIN networks, electrical testing, wiring-diagram interpretation and oscilloscope-based diagnosis.
• Experience with professional OEM or high-level multi-brand diagnostic platforms.
• Demonstrable experience on both European and Japanese vehicles.
• Clear communication, accurate documentation and professional workshop discipline.
• Willingness to complete a technical interview, practical assessment and reference checks.
