Join us as we build the ultimate ecosystem for financial literacy and long-term growth.
About the Role
We're hiring our first Senior Data Product Analyst. You'll report to the Head of Product and work day to day with product and engineering. The job is to take us from "we have some data, somewhere" to "we know what's happening in the product and can prove it."
Here's the honest version. Our data today is limited and scattered. You'll dig into what we have, figure out what's missing, and put together a plan to fix it. That plan might include bringing in new tools, so you'll evaluate vendors and make the call with us on what we need versus what's nice to have.
You'll build the metrics and dashboards that the whole company runs on: product, engineering, leadership, and marketing. Once that foundation is stable, the role grows. We see this person becoming the product owner for Dollarwise data from the consumer side, meaning you'd set the strategy for how data shows up in the experience our members see, not just what we look at internally.
What You’ll Do:
Figure out where we stand (first few months)
- Audit the data we have today: what's tracked, where it lives, what's trustworthy and what isn't
- Find the gaps, like events we aren't capturing, metrics nobody owns, or numbers that don't match across tools
- Write the data plan, including priorities, sequencing, and what it'll take to get there
- Evaluate vendors where we need them (analytics, warehousing, BI, whatever the plan calls for) and bring a clear recommendation
Build the foundation
- Define our core product operating metrics (activation, retention, engagement, conversion, and so on) and get everyone agreeing on what they mean
- Build dashboards for each audience:
- Product: feature adoption, funnels, experiment results
- Engineering: release health, performance, reliability signals
- Leadership: the handful of numbers that tell us how the business is doing
- Product marketing: acquisition, campaign performance, lifecycle and launch metrics
- Work with engineering on event tracking and instrumentation so data is captured right the first time
- Work with engineering on event tracking and instrumentation so data is captured right the first time
- Set up the basics of data quality and documentation so people can trust the numbers without asking you every time
Be the go-to person for answers
- Turn questions into analysis, and analysis into a recommendation someone can act on
- Help product size opportunities and measure what we ship
- Make data self-serve where it makes sense, so you're not stuck pulling the same report every week
Grow into the product owner for data
- Once things are stable, own the strategy for how data shows up in the consumer experience
- Partner with product and engineering on data-driven features for Dollarwise members
- Help shape the roadmap with a data point of view
- 5+ years in product analytics, data analytics, or a similar role, ideally at a consumer app or early-stage company
- You've built a metrics framework or data function from scratch (or close to it) and can talk about what you'd do differently next time
- Strong SQL. You're comfortable in at least one BI or dashboarding tool
- You understand event-based product analytics: tracking plans, funnels, cohorts, retention
- You've evaluated and rolled out data tools before and know how to weigh cost against what a small team will actually use
- You can explain a number to an engineer, a marketer, and an exec, and tailor it for each
- You're fine with ambiguity. Nobody's handing you a spec here; you'll write it
Big pluses
- Hands-on with Google Analytics and PostHog
- Experience in FinTech, personal finance, or subscription apps
- Some Python or R for deeper analysis
- You've run or analyzed A/B tests
- Interest in owning product strategy down the road, not just reporting on it
