Job Title: Senior DevOps & Cloud Enablement Engineer (AWS, Terraform, Python & FinOps)
Location: Urbandale, IA 50322 (100% Onsite)
Contract Duration: 24 Months Contract with possibility of Extension
Shift Structure: First Shift | Shift 1 (Standard Daytime Business Hours), Monday through Friday (Includes monthly rotating on-call support)
Pay Rate: $62 - $65/hr on W2
Technical Assessment: Mandatory Glider Technical Code Assessment Required prior to client submission (John_Deere-10949490)
Certification Requirement: Active AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, or DevOps Engineer)
Travel Requirement: Up to 10% domestic travel
Portfolio Requirement: N/A

Job Description: Our client, an industry leader in precision agriculture, autonomous systems, and connected cloud machinery platforms, is seeking a Senior DevOps / Cloud Enablement Engineer to join their Digital Operations & Enablement engineering group in Urbandale, IA. In this high-impact platform engineering role, you will build and scale the automated cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and FinOps tooling that empower global development teams across the enterprise. You will write autonomous Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, automate multi-account governance and cost optimization via Python (Boto3) and TypeScript, streamline deployment pipelines in GitHub Actions, and diagnose complex production bottlenecks to root cause. Key Responsibilities: Cloud Infrastructure Automation: Architect, deploy, and maintain secure, multi-account AWS infrastructure using Terraform (IaC), ensuring compliance, automated provisioning, and zero-drift environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Infrastructure Automation: Architect, deploy, and maintain secure, multi-account AWS infrastructure using Terraform (IaC), ensuring compliance, automated provisioning, and zero-drift environments.
- Platform & Account Enablement: Develop automated governance frameworks, account provisioning workflows, and FinOps cloud cost-optimization tools using Python (Boto3) and TypeScript.
- CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Design, maintain, and optimize robust GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, automating build, test, and release cadences for global engineering pods.
- Test Automation & Quality: Implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) best practices, writing comprehensive test suites using PyTest and automated validation scripts.
- Production Support & On-Call Rotation: Participate in a scheduled monthly on-call rotation to troubleshoot high-severity production infrastructure incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and drive permanent fixes.
- Technical Coaching & Pairing: Pair-program with and mentor software engineers across global business units, explaining architectural patterns and evangelizing DevOps best practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience Level: 4 to 7+ years of dedicated professional software development, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure engineering experience.
- AWS Cloud Mastery: 4+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- AWS Certification: Active AWS Certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, Developer, or DevOps Engineer).
- Automation & Scripting: 4+ years of hands-on experience scripting and developing in Python (including Boto3), Terraform, and TypeScript.
- CI/CD & Testing: 4+ years of experience constructing continuous integration and deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions, with practical experience in TDD and PyTest.
- On-Call & Onsite Availability: Willingness to work 100% onsite in Urbandale, IA, participate in monthly on-call rotations, and travel domestically up to 10%.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical practical experience.
Stand-Out Skills (Preferred):
- Hands-on administration with containerized and serverless AWS workloads (ECS, Lambda, S3, ELB, CloudWatch).
- Experience supporting and tuning Elasticsearch / Amazon OpenSearch Service.
- Solid operational knowledge of Unix/Linux kernel configurations and shell scripting.
- Prior background in large enterprise cloud governance, multi-account landing zones (AWS Organizations / Control Tower), and FinOps cost dashboards.
