Senior / Lead Scientist – MSAT Downstream (DSP) Tech Transfer – Biologics CDMO

Global relocation – full package provided

We are supporting a search for a Senior / Lead Scientist in Downstream Processing within the MSAT function of a leading global biologics CDMO. This role requires relocating globally, and the company offers a full relocation package for you and your family and would fit someone who is looking for a bit of adventure. The business is growing quickly, adding capacity and new modalities, and the MSAT team sits at the centre of bringing new client products into large-scale commercial manufacturing.

This is a hands-on tech transfer role rather than a pure development one. You would take purification processes from client or development teams and make them work reliably at scale, from risk assessments and GMP documentation through to process validation and ongoing process verification.

It is also a client-facing role. You would lead client visits on the manufacturing floor and act as the technical voice in discussions about at-scale troubleshooting and tech transfer, so you need to be comfortable explaining your process decisions to experienced people and standing behind them.

It would suit someone who enjoys the full journey of a product into manufacturing and likes improving how things are done, not just getting the current transfer over the line.

Role focus

  • Leading DSP tech transfer activities, including new product introductions, process validation and continued process verification
  • Writing the GMP documents that go with a transfer, such as process control strategies, quality risk assessments, master batch records and SOPs
  • Running risk assessments on purification processes
  • Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and other teams
  • Leading client person-in-plant visits at the manufacturing site
  • Troubleshooting at-scale purification issues together with clients
  • Improving the DSP tech transfer workflow itself
  • Supporting audit responses

What we are looking for

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • 3-5+ years in purification process development or tech transfer
  • Hands-on experience writing GMP documentation
  • Experience delivering process validation
  • Involvement in quality activities such as CAPA and deviation handling
  • Experience writing quality risk assessments
  • A solid understanding of cGMP
  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Genuine openness to relocating globally, ideally with the curiosity to enjoy living and working in a new culture

The relocation package

This role requires global relocation, and the package is designed to make that move as easy as possible for you and your family:

  • Full relocation support for you and your family which includes relocation, accommodation and schooling
  • Also, there are quite a large number of expats and those who have relocated already so they are used to the process, as well as having plenty of support

T

his isn’t a role for someone who is only half considering a move. It is for an experienced downstream scientist who wants to step up into a client-facing tech transfer role within a world-class manufacturing network, and who sees relocating as an opportunity rather than a compromise.

If this sounds like you, please apply here. And if you know someone strong in downstream tech transfer or MSAT, I’d be grateful if you could pass it on.
